It’s An Erdem Dress for Kate’s Arrival in Canada

We’re back with your afternoon fashion watch, a brief look at Kate’s dress selection for the start of the North American Tour in Ottawa, Canada.

Canadian Heritage

You can tell it was breezy at Ottawa’s Macdonald-Cartier International Airport.

The couple’s first stop was at the National War Memorial where they laid a wreath.

They then traveled to Rideau Hall. Below you see them with Governor-General David Johnston (second from right) and Prime minister Stephen Harper (R).

The Duke and Duchess during the ceremonies.

The dress is by Erdem, a British brand helmed by Montreal-born designer Erdem Moralioglu. (The website may be found here.) The Duchess was wearing the ‘Cecile’ style.

Here is what Erdem posted on Twitter and shared by Nina Lux:

The Cecile dress is shown on the designer’s site as being from the Pre-Spring 2011 collection, but it is identified at many fashion sites as being from the Resort 2012 collection, which may explain why it isn’t shown as available for purchase anywhere.

Mr. Moralioglu shows both his collections at London Fashion Week. His garments are available at a number of upscale retailers, including Saks, Neimans, Barneys, Harrods, Harvey Nichols and many more.

Kate again wore the LK Bennett Sledge2 pump in light taupe and carried the envelope clutch we have seen on many previous occasions Stuart Weitzman for Russell & Bromley ‘Muse’ clutch.

The Duchess wore her Elsa Peretti® Diamonds by the Yard bracelet from Tiffany.

Her hair was partially up.

UPDATE: It looks like Kate is wearing Tiffany’s Cabochon Sapphire & Diamond earrings. We show them with the Elsa Peretti® Color by the Yard sapphire and diamond bracelet; the Duchess has worn a necklace from that collection, most notably for the formal engagement announcement.

Some fashion fans are expressing a desire to see The Duchess in brighter colors, in looks that are not quite so conservative as the navy worn this morning and again this afternoon. I imagine we will see her in some bright red for this evening’s outdoor barbecue, and we’ll see you then as well!

We thank Royalty Chronicles and Simon Perry of People magazine on Twitter for the tip on the dress! We’ll leave you with this photo from today.

sleeves changed? Are you thinking that on the model they are lined and on Kate they aren't? I'm wondering if they just appear lined on the model because she has such fair skin? Or is there another change I am missing?

The dress is pretty but would not buy it myself, it's a fortune and the people who can pull it off need a willowy figure with little curve. Looks lovely on Kate!

Wonder why she had the sleeves changed. Any thoughts? Does it improve the look in some way that I'm not fashion savvy enough to understand? I love the dress both ways...
