Paris Preps, LK Bennett’s Spring Collection & Erdem A/W 2017

We are back with a glance at preps for the Paris trip that starts tomorrow, as well an overview of an autumn/winter 2017 collection from one of Kate’s ‘go to’ brands, Erdem. But, because most of us are *really* eager to see spring styles, we’ll also focus on LK Bennett’s s/s collection.

We start with a Kensington Palace post on Twitter.Kensington Palace (@KensingtonRoyal)

The British Ambassador to France, Edward Llewellyn, posted this photo on Twitter. The flowers are at the Ambassador’s official residence, Hôtel Charost, where William and Kate are expected to stay.

Here is an updated view of the Cambridge’s itinerary for the trip. A reminder – the day begins with the Duke and Duchess at the Irish Guards for the traditional St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock events.

  • Friday, March 17
    • Upon arrival, they will meet with French President François Hollande at the Élysée Palace. There have been unconfirmed reports saying this will be around 4:30 local time. (11:30 am EDT/8:30am PDT)
    • The Duke & Duchess will then go to a reception at the British Embassy honoring the cultural ties between the UK and France
    • Following the reception, Kate and William attend a black-tie dinner hosted by the British Ambassador to France, Edward Llewellyn
    • It is expected the couple will stay with the Ambassador at his official residence, Hôtel Charost.
  • Saturday, March 18:
    • The Duke and Duchess visit Les Invalides (also known as Hôtel National des Invalides), a group of monuments and museums related to the history of the French military. The couple will learn about contemporary treatment of veterans; they will also meet those affected by the terrorist attacks at the Bataclan Theatre in Paris and the lorry attack in Nice on Bastille Day last year. (I don’t have a firm time for this.)
    • William and Kate attend the France vs. Wales Six Nations Rugby Match at the Stade de France. William is vice-patron of the Welsh Rugby Union; he will be its Patron, it is one of many HM is turning over to other family members. . The match begins at 3:45 local time, that is 10:45 am ET/ 7:45 am PT.

I’ll update with any more details that become available.

Now to something much easier to envision (because, as noted above, it is really difficult, at least for yours truly, to ponder pieces for next fall when there is still snow on the ground from this winter), the LK Bennett Spring collection.

Let’s begin with one of my favorite pieces in the collection, the Astrala Tweed Jacket ($495); in the center, we show the Saskia dress in a new color ($395); on the right, the Harri Ponte Dress ($295).

If the Duchess is looking for more fit and flare silhouettes, there’s no shortage. From left to right we show the Rosie in cream ($425); Darly Dress in navy ($395); on the right, the Carrie Dress ($525).

A major colorway for the spring line is ‘putty,’ a shade that looks like a very pale salmon or coral when viewing it online. Below, the Vivi Dress ($425); Heather Tweed Jacket ($495); and the Mia Silk Top ($275).

More styles in the colorway, from the left: the Evie Peplum Jacket ($395); the sleeveless Harrie Dress ($345); a cold shoulder style, the Marnie Dress ($525); and the Rosie Coat ($495).

There are plenty of pieces with polka dots, commonly known as ‘spots’ on the far side of the pond. The Pernila Spot Print Dress ($495) in Sloane Blue; the Penny Silk Dress ($495); and the Laury Dress in cotton ($345), also in Sloane Blue.

Should Kate decide she needs to add to her selection of frocks in the floaty chiffon she favors, she has plenty of options: on the left we show the Magda Silk Dress ($525); in the center, a solid color, the Coral Shirt Dress ($525) in Bottle Green silk; on the right, a piece many will recognize, the Addison Silk Printed Dress ($525) that Kate wore for dinner with President and Mrs. Obama, now back in stock.

Three more styles: below left, the Phia Silk Dress ($595); in the center and on the right, the Ally Dress ($595), offered in both a blue and a maroon print.

The metallic element in the Elowen Dress qualifies it for dressier occasions. It is offered in 2 colorways, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Kate in one of them.

There are some fabulous jackets in bouclé and tweed. Below left, the Vetti Tweed Jacket ($495); in the center, the Eline Dress ($395); on the right, a piece only available in the UK at this point, the Charl Cream Cotton Jacket, also offered in black (£295).

The Vetti Tweed also comes in a Blue Coat ($695); we pair it with the Lorna Top ($95) in Sloan Blue and Eden Green; the Vetti Tweed Skirt ($295).

BTW, I finally sorted out the difference between bouclé and tweed: tweed is a specific type of weave, the way the fibers are woven. Depending upon your source, bouclé is a yarn, something that would be used in a tweed fabric. However, there are some references online saying it is both a fiber and a fabric.

For those waxing nostalgic, the‘Judi’ separates are now available in black; the jacket runs $395, and the coordinating skirt is $295. (The ‘Judi’ in Evergreen replaced Kate’s ‘Jude’ jacket.)

In the accessory department we see the return of the Fern heels in Kate’s Trench color ($345); the Floret is back as well, with its lower 3.3″ heel ($325); there is also a new entry in this same Nappa leather, the Florisa, with its 2.5″ heel ($295).

The block heel is a key design this spring: the Seline Suede Sandal in dark pink ($425); Helena Suede Sandal in navy ($350); and Sersha Suede Block Heel in black suede ($275).

There are offerings for dressier occasions as well: on the left, the Fern in an eye-popping Mirror Metallic material (I think you could use this as a mirror if needing to touch up your lipstick or powder your nose); the Nina Box Clutch in gold textured leather ($325); and the Nina in silver metallic leather (£195), only available in the UK.

And the wedge remains a popular offering: On the left, the Angeline Wedge Sandal in navy ($325); the Kiki Wedge in Trench ($325); the Zella Wedge in leather and jute ($325);

I hope I have all the style names correctly referenced. My brain got a little addled, in part because there is a Rosie Dress and a Rosie Coat (but it isn’t rose in color, it is putty); a Harrie dress and a Harri dress; and, the Coral dress isn’t coral, but “bottle green”.

Do any of the pieces strike you as being ideal for the Duchess? Are there any favorites you would love to have?

We’ll see you tomorrow for the St. Patrick’s Day shamrock ceremony.

I was pretty sure I recognized that Erdem dress on the left of the three at the very bottom of the post - Felicity Jones wore it to an Oscars after-party!

That mirror finish shoe could be quite...er, reflective of territory underneath a flared skirt!

Love the Evie Peplum Jacket and the Elowen gown. (but wish it was full length) Could picture Catherine looking stunning in both.

I wonder if the Duchess will wear French labels during her trip. It seems an ideal opportunity for her to wear Chanel and Dior. I would love to see her in a beautiful couture evening gown.
