We are back with our post that we’ll treat as a rolling live blog, meaning it will be continually updated with the latest news, information and goings-on surrounding the impending birth of the Prince or Princess of Cambridge.
8:30m EDT:
Some have asked where other family members are at this time, below some updates & the source of the information:
- Also with William & Kate at the hospital, their private secretaries, Rebecca Deacon and Miguel Head, via Richard Palmer of the Express
- “Prince Charles & Camilla are in York 200 miles from London but Carole Middleton expected to arrive at St Mary’s for birth of RoyalBaby” via David Brown/The Times of London
- There are some reports Kate’s parents left Bucklebury about 7:30am EDT. If that is the case they should be at the hospital, or at least in the area, within 30 minutes,
- Queen Elizabeth is at Windsor Castle, due back at Buckingham Palace later today, via Rebecca English The Daily Mail
- “Prince Harry — who’s said he can’t wait to be an uncle — is at RAF Wattisham where he’s based as an Apache pilot” via Peter Hunt of the BBC
People are making their way to both the hospital and Buckingham Palace. Below, crowds beginning to arrive at BP as seen by Lama Hansen of ABC news.
Many readers will have already seen live coverage on morning news programs. Below we see CNN’s Max Foster delivering a live report, the photo is by Mark Stewart, also known as Regal Eyes on twitter.
6:45am More and more media continue to arrive at the hospital. CNN’s David Wilkinson just shared this photo.
Other tidbits:
- one of the ways the baby’s birth will be made known is via the 600-foot BT Tower in London, the LED screen will flash the news
- it remains beastly hot in London, 90° is the expected high, and anyone who has been there knows how high the humidity is. CNN’s David Wilkinson tweeted:

11am EDT UPDATE:
From Hello! Magazine’s live blog
The Evening Standard has done a story about the photographer who broke the news that Kate was on her way to the hospital; Jesal Parshotam is the young man who
was among a crowd of paparazzi outside St Mary’s Hospital when he noticed two cars arriving at the back entrance just before 6am this morning.
Parshotam, 24, from Harrow, was with his colleague Darren Sacks, 30, when a BMW and a people carrier arrived at the Lindo Wing carrying Kate and Prince William and royal protection officers.
Here’s the cool part of the story, at least in my opinion.
“We had decided in advance we were not going to take a photo of her,” claims Parshotam. “I made that decision — she’s a woman in labour. I just wanted to photograph the commotion and convoy of cars. That was a personal decision we both made. To take a picture of her would have been over stepping the mark.
You can read the story in its entirety here.

12:30pm UPDATES:
- Kate has now been in labor at least twelve hours.
- Regarding the how/who of getting the official birth announcement to the easel at Buckingham Palace, the following two tweets offer some clarification.
- The Telegraph’s live blog has reaction from Prime Minister David Cameron:
“…told the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to “enjoy and savour every moment” with their new baby as he disclosed that he and his wife Samantha will not be having another child.
The Prime Minister described the weeks and months after a new arrival as “wonderful” and “magical”.
- The crowds only continue to grow at the hospital, as seen in this photo taken moments ago and shared by Paul Harrison of Sky News.
Huffington Post has a fun piece with celebrity tweets on the topic, we’ll share only a few. The first comes via the woman known as Snooki, then Perez Hilton, and finally, Joan Collins.
For anyone wondering about the new Order of Succession, the Daily Mail has a solid infographic and story.
