Your Favorite 2014 Dresses & Coats, That Beulah London Hearts Sweater & More

We are back with an update and then we’ll move to our polls. New photos of the Duchess were published recently. With thanks to Christin Zipfel on the WKW Facebook page for her translation, the text accompanying the story essentially reads:

“A jumper with little hearts over the babybump. No make up. Uncombed casual hair. We see the Duchess of Cambridge from England (6 months pregnant) during a shopping tour in a supermarket. Without any royal features and very normal she did her errands in the only cheap supermarket in her home village Buckleburry”

The Duchess was shown shopping at her local Bucklebury market, Peach’s, perhaps best described to US readers as somewhere between a 7-11 and a small local market. Kate was wearing a sweater by Beulah London, the ‘Delaney‘.

The sweater featured a heart print and was part of the label’s a/w 2014 collection. One FYI: the sweater was only offered in grey; the Bild photo(s) were photoshopped, that is why it looks navy. The sweater is a wool/cashmere blend that originally retailed for £250, but was most recently discounted to £125.

While the Delaney is out of stock, there are still pieces available in the heart pattern. Below we show the limited edition ‘Amala’ scarf in grey and white. (I included a closeup of the scarf material to show that the pattern is actually woven into the scarf, not printed on top of the material as some thought.)

There is also a red Amala scarf, as well as ‘Love’ sweaters in navy/white and light gray/red.

Now we turn our attention to poll results, starting with your favorite new dresses worn by the Duchess in 2014.

UPDATED Jan 23: From the sound of some comments it seems I didn’t do a good job explaining why we’re voting on dresses again, I apologize for not being more clear. (One of the pitfalls of spending so much time on an endeavor like WKW is that I can get lost in the minutiae of the topic and not write as clearly as I would like!) With apologies for the confusion, today’s poll merely combines the top 4 tour dresses and the top 4 worn throughout the rest of the year, something of a ‘superpoll’ to determine a favorite among all of the new frocks Kate wore in 2014. The same reasoning is behind today’s coat poll, it takes the top choices from new coats worn on tour and those worn at other times in 2014. Hopefully this clears things up, but if not, just let me know and I’ll do my best to try and clarify the situation.

With 5500+ votes here are the top four choices, excluding frocks worn on the April tour.

Many readers may recall that we were going to combine these poll results with the top 3 or 4 new dresses Kate wore during the New Zealand/Australia tour in April. This is where things get a little messy. Your trusty admin (ahem) is unable to make the tour poll graphics appear in the same format as those shown above, so the “results” graphics look a little wacky. Additionally, back in May when we did the tour polls this same (deluded) admin felt it necessary to have a separate poll on “Tour Suits and Ensembles“, a clothing category that doesn’t mesh at all well with our two primary themes: new daytime styles and repeated daytime styles. And then there was that pale pink Alexander McQueen dress Kate wore in Australia that we all thought was a suit. So here’s what I’ve done: that pink McQueen dress was added to the ‘Favorite New Tour Dress’ poll results, making it part of today’s combined poll. Below are the results of your favorite new tour dresses.

And now it’s time to vote on your favorite new dress worn by the Duchess in 2014.

Next, your favorite new coats from 2014, excluding the spring tour: with more than 6000 votes the top 3 include the Seraphine Marina, Alexander McQueen custom coat and the Mulberry Cerise double-breasted coat.

Here are the visual results, you will see the Alexander McQueen dove gray and Catherine Walker red have been added in, both were in that goofy “Tour Suits and Ensembles” category yours truly dreamed up.

This survey was also close, only 13 votes separate the Zimmermann dress from the red Alexander McQueen dress first seen during the 2012 Jubilee River Pageant.

There was no need to do a ‘repeats’ poll for tour wear, because there was very little, especially in the dress category, so there’s not a combined poll as there is for the new frocks. This was merely done to gauge reactions to Kate’s recycled looks.

Some very quick stock updates for you today, beginning with a jewelry note. This morning jeweler Claudia Bradby tweeted about a necklace that will be familiar to some readers, the Camellia Rose Quartz and Amazonite Necklace.Claudia Bradby

The tweet advised followers that the necklace is now back in stock. Kate was seen wearing the necklace a few times; below right you can just see a bit of it in this photo from the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 2007.

Some may recall that Kate designed a necklace in partnership with Ms. Bradby when she was working at Jigsaw.  Eagle-eyed readers will recognize that Kate is wearing her Katherine Hooker Alexander Jacket, in the photo above, a piece that remains available for purchase in a choice of fabrics.

Also today, the Mulberry Cerise Double-Breasted coat is now discounted by 50%.

Bargain hunters may want to take a peek at the LK Bennett shoes and clothing being offered by flash sale site Gilt.com.  There aren’t any identical items to those worn by Kate, but there are some bargains that may hold appeal. The Sledge is discounted to $229/$239 in three different colors.

Is this magazine a tabloid? I don't know how I feel about critiquing a sweater that was not worn at a formal appearance. Kind of like someone critiquing my leggings worn over the weekend.

Totally agree with you

Yes, "Bild" is a tabloid. A pretty appalling one, too.

I meant "BILD."

Nothing wrong with that, TW3. Where folks like you come from it's about quality, not quantity. Dare to be different! :-)

Thank you so much for maintaining this site which is fun to read and ripped from the headlines. No apologies needed ever - for lack of clarity - as what you do is a labor (or labour) of love and I appreciate your hard work.

I enjoy the polls so please keep them coming. They're also good fillers when HRH isn't making any appearances. I would Almost bankrupt myself for that LK Bennett Lasa Poppy dress! It was made for me, I just know it, but somehow it ended up in Kate's closet! BTW imagine what her closets look like? I'd Love a peek there! Thank you, WKW, for all the work you do to produce this page for us.

Clothing items with little hearts all over them don't flip my switch, but this sweater is fairly cute. I do think that when you reach a certain age -- and 33 is in that vicinity -- it's time to eschew "cute" and go for sophisticated.

I'm refraining from voting, since I'm none too clear on why we're doing it again. Perhaps I read too quickly. However, I always enjoy seeing photos of looks I liked in the past -- especially that yellow Ilincic and the Michael Kors coat, which I loved.

Diana had a sweater with sheep. You can knit it. http://www.p-hop.co.uk/index.php/patterns/sheep-sweater/

I tend to agree that there comes a time when we need to put away our hearts and teddy bear and sheep sweaters. But, she was just dashing out, rather than making a public appearance.

I'm sorry for the confusion Lili, this is from an update to today's post: "With apologies for the confusion, today’s poll merely combines the top 4 tour dresses and the top 4 worn throughout the rest of the year, something of a ‘superpoll’ to determine a favorite among all of the new frocks Kate wore in 2014. Hopefully this clears things up, but if not, just let me know in a comment and I’ll do my best to try and clarify the situation. :)

The vote now is the overall favorite vote - as we voted on favorite tour dresses/coats after the tour, and voted on everything else from 2014 but not from the tour a week ago. So now the top looks from the tour votes and the top looks from the "everything else from 2014" votes have been combined and we can choose between all of those.
