The Duchess attended a party today celebrating The Goring Hotel’s re-opening.
The hotel has been closed for updating and refurnishing since January 26th. Today was its grand re-opening, as well as a celebration of its 105th birthday.
The Coldstream Guards were on hand for the celebration.
Of course, this is where the Duchess stayed with her family the night before her wedding in April of 2011.
More from The Daily Telegraph:
It was three days before the wedding on April 29, 2011 that the Middleton family, minus Kate – Carole and Michael and their younger children Pippa and James – moved into The Goring. As Jeremy Goring said discreetly at the time: “We are thrilled to be playing a small part in a big day.”
While at the hotel today the Duchess added a personal touch, painting a tiny portion of the Fromental wallpaper commissioned by the Goring.
The bespoke wallpaper design is used in the Hotel’s Front Hall. (Click here to read more about the wallpaper.)
These photos of Kate as she was leaving the Hotel were shared by Harriet Simmonds on Twitter.
For today’s event the Duchess wore an Erdem silk chiffon dress, the ‘Darla’.
…this striking new-season dress is a must-have for both day and evening events. Button and zip fastenings at back. Round neck, printed, three-quarter length sleeves, buttoned cuffs, cut-out back, flared hem, partially lined.
You can better see the print in these photos of the neckline.
Initially I thought it unlikely the Duchess would wear a dress with a cutout back like the Darla, especially in March in London. But Christina LV pointed out that the Erdem dress worn by the Duchess in Singapore originally had a cutout back and it was modified so there was no opening in the back.
Today’s Tip of the Tiara goes to Annabelle Gonzalez, she quickly identified the dress. She also pointed out the possibility the Duchess purchased this frock when buying the dress worn in Singapore, as well as the possibility Kate may well have worn the dress when expecting George.
That made eminent good sense.
The Darla is from the label’s 2013 pre-spring collection and no longer available. Below, two pieces from that collection: the ensemble on the left looks it could be the Darla with a matching jacket while the navy blue looks very much like Kate’s dress.
Kate carried her Stuart Weitzman for Russell and Bromley ‘Muse’ clutch.
She also wore her Alexander McQueen navy suede heels.
The Duchess had on her aquamarine and diamond earrings, sparkling in the bright sunlight.
We will see you again tomorrow, we have something fun planned.
