Kate’s New Video for Children’s Mental Health Week

We’re back with a very quick post.

We begin with a new video featuring the Duchess. As anticipated, a PSA promoting Children’s Mental Health Week was released today by Place2Be.  The Duchess made the video in her role as Place2Be’s royal patron. You can view the 2-minute video below.

This year’s theme for Mental Health Week is Being Ourselves.

Below, students at Paget Primary school who took part in an exercise today on what makes them special.

Kate has been a patron of Place2Be since 2013. We learn more about the charity’s role in the weeklong awareness-raising effort from the Place2Be website

Place2Be launched the first ever Children’s Mental Health Week in 2015 to support children and young people’s mental health and emotional wellbeing. Now in its fourth year, we hope to encourage more people than ever to get involved and spread the word.

The Duchess has been a staunch supporter of  Children’s Mental Health Week since its inception. A People story talks about the Duchess’s work in this area, noting that she “…has helped inspire the drive to talk openly about children’s mental wellbeing, and intervene to help kids as early as possible.”

The PSA was shot when Kate visited Reach Feltham Academy in January.

The Duchess was in Séraphine’s Florrie dress. For more details on what Kate wore, click here to see the original post.

We have an update to Kate’s Calendar

  • Monday, February 19: Kate will have her first joint engagement with Sophie, Countess of Wessex, as they host a reception at Buckingham Palace. The reception will showcase pieces created as part of the Commonwealth Fashion Exchange. More from Grazia UK: “The Commonwealth Fashion Initiative will see all 52 countries come together to encourage new partnerships and sustainable practices in the fashion industry. Designers such as Stella McCartney, Burberry, and New Zealand’s Karen Walker will team up with artisan producers in developing countries to create a one of a kind eco-friendly outfit(s)…”.  The event is timed to take place during London Fashion Week, which gets underway Feb. 16. The new endeavor is supported by both the British Fashion Council and the Commonwealth Fashion Council; Sophie is royal patron of the London College of Fashion.

We learn more about the project from Hannah Furness in her Daily Telegraph story:

It will see established designers including Stella McCartney, Bibi Russell and Karen Walker, paired with artisan producers in smaller or developing countries who “exemplify traditional handcraft techniques and trades”.

Below you see Kate last October and Sophie on Christmas Day 2017. (Sophie was wearing an Erdem coat, a Jane Taylor hat and carrying a Noble Macmillan Tassel Pouch.)

And from Monique Jessen’s People story:

“We believe in the huge power of fashion,” Livia Firth, founder and creative director of Eco-Age consultancy, tells PEOPLE.

Firth (wife to actor Colin Firth), who first came up with the project, adds: “The majority of the population of the Commonwealth is under the age of 30 so we needed to find something that spoke to the millennials, the young people.”

Below, Kate and Sophie on Remembrance Sunday 2014.

This should be a fun event.

We leave you with a quick Retail Roundup note: Kate’s Sorel boots are 25% off at Sorel, making them $94.90 instead of $130.

We will see you shortly with our tour wrapup post. And don’t forget Kate’s engagement on Wednesday, when she opens a new Action on Addiction treatment centre in Wickford.

I think this has to be Kate’s best video to date, she’s slowing down her words beautifully and not swallowing them as William often does. The pretty Seraphine dress helps set off the stunning sapphire earrings and her hair is superb, so glossy and thick; pregnancy agrees with her.

The Kate and Sophie fashion event looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun, I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for the post

I've always felt that if Kate were not a member of the Royal Family, she would have gravitated to a job working with children. Whether as a teacher or social worker, she would have made an enormous contribution. But then again, she is making an enormous contribution to childhood mental health issues, by being a patron and drawing awareness to the cause. What a pure and loving heart she has.

Forgot that Kate’s layered cut in 2016 was so flattering. She really wears that darker shade of blue beautifully, too.
