Prince George is now a teenager, celebrating his 13th birthday today. Below is a new photograph released to mark the milestone. 
Matt Porteous took the image after Trooping the Colour last month. Here is the message accompanying the photo of the young Prince. 
It’s tough to believe this next image is from thirteen years ago, when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge introduced their baby boy to the world on the steps of the Lindo Wing. 
That feels even more striking when seeing the brief video Kensington Palace also posted of the Prince to commemorate today’s occasion.

The clip, posted this afternoon to mark George’s milestone birthday shows him on a family holiday to Cornwall earlier this year in a pair of sunglasses waving to the camera and flashing a cheeky grin. The 18-second video montage also shows the prince, playing cricket on the sand, patting one of the family dogs, enjoying a boat ride and clambering over rocks barefoot with his younger brother Prince Louis.
I believe this was shot during the family’s Easter holiday. 
In this montage, you see last year’s birthday photo alongside this year’s picture. 
We have seen quite a bit of Prince George in the last year as he joined his parents for official engagements. In November, he attended the Festival of Remembrance. 
This was the first time he attended the annual event. 
Just a couple of weeks later, he joined the family for the Together at Christmas Carol Concert at Westminster Abbey. 
Not long after the concert taping, he took part in the walk to and from the Christmas Day church service. 
Here you see him with Prince Louis as they hold gifts from well-wishers. 
Also during the holiday season, Prince George followed in his father’s footsteps by visiting The Passage charity, just as Prince William did back in 1993.

We saw the Prince in April when he joined his brother, sister, and parents for the Easter Matins service at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor.

June also brought a joint engagement with his mother. 
That is when the duo visited RAF Coningsby, a Royal Air Force base about three hours north of Windsor. The Princess is the Honorary Air Commodore of the base, a position she has held since 2023. 
We also saw the Prince when the entire family welcomed the Princess of Wales at the successful conclusion of her Three Peaks Challenge.

It was just ten days ago when Prince George and Princess Charlotte attended Wimbledon with their parents. 
They watched the Gentlemen’s Final match between Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev.
And Prince George had some fun with his sister as he adjusted his hat in the summer heat.
The young Prince has a big change coming as he enters Eton College in September. Below, students at the illustrious school in 2022, wearing their black tailcoats and waistcoats.

The prestigious all-boys boarding school, which costs $85,000 per year, counts Prince William, Prince Harry and many other notable British men (including numerous prime ministers) as alumni.
While many options were explored for Prince George’s next school, a source close to the family told PEOPLE soon after Kensington Palace confirmed the Eton College decision, “George has always wanted to follow in his dad’s footsteps.”

On Sept 8, he will join the ranks of some 260 new boys in “F-Block” – otherwise known as Year 9 – at Eton College.
It will be a different life for the Prince, who will live away from home for the first time, even if it is just a 10-minute drive from the family home in Windsor.
Like the other boys, he will have his own private room and will probably be given a “brick phone” to stay in touch with his family.

Seems to me it’s a lucky 13th for such a handsome and polished-luooking young man. We have been treated to a first-rate Matt Porteous portrait of Prince George just as he steps into his teens. We can see a blossoming quiet confidence, how well he can wear a suit, and how he might make a king.
Even better we have extra glimpses of him in action courtesy of the generous provision of an extra holiday video showing off his rock clambering prowess and impressively long legs. Thanks to the great supply of photos on-site here we have clear evidence of how much he has grown and how close he is to outgrowing his mother.
The montage of all his birthday portraits is fascinating, and while it is painful to admit how fast the years have flown, it is fascinating to watch him develop into an amazing young man. I’d like to add my heartfelt wishes for him to enjoy the happiest of 13th years.

Thank you for your hard work on this site! It was nice to reflect on the young prince’s life and how quickly these 13 years have passed.
Each time I see a picture of Prince George, I think he resembles both King George V and King George VI.

@Zell, with respect, Zell, I doubt that the UK MSM gives a hoot about the US public and what they know Catherine as. Catherine and William have been married for 15 years, I doubt that the US public is so dim as not to recognise who they are talking about if they were to refer to Catherine by her preferred name or even if the used the 'incorrect' title of Princess Catherine. As you say, they were quick to go from 'Lady Di'/Diana Spencer to 'Princess Diana'. No difference in the case of Catherine but for reasons best known to themselves they do it to be snarky or as if they feel she needs to be taken down a peg or two. Whatever their pathetic reasoning, it shows the tabloids (and certain so-called 'quality' magazines) up for the juvenile bunch that they are.

I just thought of something else, as well, that the period of time, from engagement to marriage, for Diana and Charles, was only one year, more of less. Lady Diana, as she was called prior to her marriage, (due to her father becoming a Duke) was very soon called Princess Diana, and remained that, for the rest of her life.
For Catherine and William, they met and then, much later, they married, over the course of 10 years, and so, Catherine was referred to as Kate Middleton, for a very long time, as that was appropriate, and now, it has kind of stuck.

@Maggie, Okay, Maggie, sarcasm is not the norm on WKW, so I was not looking for it, or expecting it. So many people feel that the wording Kate Middleton is disrespectful. Happy to know that on WKW, Susan, the admin and people who comment, do not perpetuate the use of the maiden name, Middleton.

Maggie, now that you've explained that you meant it to be sarcastic, it makes more sense. It's also funny to me! And, I mostly agree with you (and Bonnie), that Middleton should have been dropped a long time ago.
I suspect the media doesn't drop it, though, because most in the US know her as Kate Middleton.
We, who follow, with great interest and sincere affection, the doings of the Royals, may be a rather small group, compared to most, at least in the US.
To look at it another way, I can also appreciate that Catherine is known as "Kate Middleton," since her family of origin matters. Even Diana is often referred to as Diana Spencer.
But yes, thanks for explaining the sarcasm! You made me laugh with how the media just Won't give up on that!
Hmmm, the other part of it may be that Catherine is supposed to be called: Catherine, The Princess of Wales, not Princess Catherine. The former is a lot of words to write, and the media wants things snappy and concise (like it or not).
Personally speaking, I Do think of Catherine as Princess Catherine, and sometimes refer to her as that on this site. I don't do it much because I know it's not the proper way to refer to her.
However -
To me, she's just as much a Royal Princess as anyone else in The Family. who is officially referred to as "Princess (First Name)." Technically it's not correct, but in a way that matters more (to me, albeit) she Is:
Princess Catherine.
And, someday I will call her Queen Catherine, just as Camilla is called Queen Catherine.
