Kate was in a navy ensemble for today’s visit to a Place2Be forum on “Resilience and Emotional Strength in Schools”.

Kate is Patron of the organization, it offers support to help children cope with the many issues they face in today’s world. Some may recall that the Duchess took part in a Place2Be event in April of this year.

For today’s engagement she wore an Orla Kiely Crepe skirt, a style from the spring/summer 2012 collection.

Many thanks to Anna of My Small Obsessions for her help on the skirt. The top worn by the Duchess is a Max Mara piece.

As of this writing (8pm EST Weds. Nov. 20) the exact style hasn’t yet been discovered.

Kate sported a pair navy gloves we’ve not seen previously. They are *very* similar to the Cornelia James gloves worn frequently by the Duchess, but the way the bow is knotted is just a bit different.

Kate carried her navy Muse clutch by Stuart Weitzman for Russell and Bromley, a bag she has carried many times. Below, one of those instances during the Jubilee Tour last year.

Today Kate’s hair was partially pulled back, revealing her Annoushka pearl drop earrings. The photo below right is also from that 2012 Tour.

The blue pumps worn today are the pair attributed by many to Alexander McQueen.

Kate was so interested in today’s activities she ended staying an hour longer than expected at the forum. A local school’s children performed several songs for the Duchess.

Place2Be offers services in more than 200 schools, helping 75,000 children. More on today’s event from the Daily Mail, quoting Professor Tanya Byron:

She’s genuinely engaged with the issues. She has given us such a seal of approval in a very public manner, from a woman who is loved by the public and has become a mother herself.

The Duchess was asking questions, and mentioned she was at a meeting yesterday when the issue of sexting came up as well.’

That is just one challenge children face; self-esteem issues, bereavement and loss, bullying, domestic violence, and self harm are some of the others. The organization assists educators, parents and children ages 4 through 14, offering help and support in dealing with difficult situations.

We are back with a brief bit of news and then some style-watching.

Many readers are likely to have already heard that Prince George will be christened on Wednesday, October 23 at 11am (that’s 6am EDT, 3am PDT). The ceremony will be at the Chapel Royal, St. James’s Palace. More from Richard Palmer’s story in the Express:

The Prince, who is third-in-line to the throne, will be three months and one day old.

Afterwards, however, there will be photographs released of William, Kate, and their baby son.

Aides expect they will include an historic picture of the Queen with three future monarchs – her son Charles, grandson William, and great grandson George.

The Archbishop said he is “…delighted to conduct the baptism“. The Chapel Royal is where Princess Diana’s coffin lay for nearly a week following her death in 1997.  The most recent christening of a royal baby at the Chapel Royal was Princess Beatrice’s in 1988.

Also this week, Clarence House shared news that William and Kate have a new coat of arms, officially it is the Conjugal Coat of Arms.

Some may recall the news that Prince William is at the helm of a new non-profit, United for Wildlife.

In his role with the organization the Prince shot PSAs (Public Service Announcement) for Wild Aid with David Beckham and Yao Ming. Knowing that William is rather tall I thought you might enjoy seeing how tall basketball legend Yao Ming is.

We wrap up with a look ahead to the Whistles Spring/Summer 2014 collection. The label held its runway show at London Fashion Week.  From the Women’s Wear Daily review:

The plains and wildlife of Africa inspired this first runway outing from the British high street retailer. Soft savannah shades met with the sugared pink and minty greens of a lovebird’s plumage, while crisp whites were laminated to look like leopard print. Stiff raffia fabrics were woven into an elegant, oversized coat paired with a jumpsuit. Precision tailoring in dresses, and a strapless playsuit, were among the highlights of this strong collection.

For the first time pieces from the collection are being offered at Moda Operandi, the online site allowing shoppers the opportunity to pre-order looks straight from the runway.  Below, the Hiromi Midi Stripe dress ($820) and the pink Dari Sculpted Raffia Dress ($425).

NOTE: With apologies, I am going to abruptly end the post here. My computer has died a sudden death, and I am borrowing a crippled computer saved for parts. Not knowing how many days it will be before I have a new computer up and running, along with the fact the Moda Operandi pre-sale ends October 3rd, makes this seem the prudent choice. Many thanks in advance for your patience.

Kate and William continue their stay at Balmoral, joining other royals at church this morning.

The service was at Crathie Kirk, perhaps best known as the Royal Family’s place of worship when at Balmoral. More from the Parish website.

The Parish of Braemar and Crathie is one of the largest, highest and most remote in Scotland. It is set in the magnificent Cairngorms National Park

Balmoral is the Scottish home to the Royal Family, it is where the Queen has her annual holiday. It is the most private and personal of the Queen’s homes. Most senior royals are invited to spend time there with Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh during the Queen’s 2-month stay at the Estate. Kate, William and George flew up last week.

Sunday services are a tradition for the Royals. The Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Camilla also were at Crathie Kirk.

Kate was in her Workers Coat by Moloh, the ‘Fairy Tale’ hat by Lock and Company, and her oft-worn Kiki McDonough Citrine Drop earrings.  Below we see Kate in the hat today and on the far right, back in March of 2012 when visiting Leicester with Her Majesty & Prince Philip. It is the company’s Fairy Tale style, no longer available for purchase.

Also visiting at Balmoral this weekend, New Zealand’s Prime Minister John Key, his wife Bronagh, their daughter Stephanie and son Max. Below, the prime Minister meeting with the Queen.

John Key Facebook Page

It is quite an honor to be invited to the Castle, few foreign dignitaries or leaders are asked to join the royals at their Scottish retreat.  It can also be somewhat intimidating, more from the New Zealand Herald:

Mr Key said the family had asked for as much information as possible on Balmoral etiquette to avoid faux pas.

Bronagh Key and daughter Stephanie had invested in floor-length frocks for the formal dinner, Mr Key and son Max had bought the required formal suits.

“Tea is at 5 o’clock, you have to attend, don’t be late. The first dinner is a black-tie dinner so a long frock for Bronagh and Steffi. The next night will almost certainly be a barbecue and apparently they’re quite casual.

Mr. Key said they brought some “really top” wines from New Zealand to enjoy at this weekend’s barbecue.

As we have shared previously, a Tour of Australia and New Zealand next year is in the works for Kate, William and Prince George. Apparently that topic was on the agenda this weekend, Radio New Zealand has more:

Mr Key says he discussed the possibility of a visit to New Zealand by Prince William, the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince George, who were also at Balmoral.

According to the Daily Mirror, Prince George’s passport has already been ordered.

Visiting the Queen can be quite a daunting undertaking task, the New Zealand Herald story is a delightful read, filled with tidbits about how the morning alarm clock is sounded, how one addresses Her Majesty and other insider tips.

On a slightly related note, it turns out another royal is wearing one of Kate’s favorite maternity labels.
