Kate Bits & Bytes + A Serious Savings Opportunity

Once again we pop in with a variety of updates, beginning with links to several recent stories about Kate’s style and its impact.

Our first item involves news that won’t surprise WKW readers, word that Kate coverage is helping sell more magazines.

Hello! magazine

The Telegraph reports that sales for Hello! magazine are higher than usual, the magazine’s coverage of the wedding and other Duchess-related goings-on are credited with boosting circulation numbers. The paper’s story quotes Charlotte Stockting, publishing director for the magazine:

“People who hitherto thought, ‘I know Hello! and I’m not buying it’ have trialled it with the Royal Wedding issue and have stayed with the magazine,” she said.

Ms. Stockting added the “Kate effect” was boosting sales on a weekly basis, and said the Royal Family’s newest member would appear on Hello!’s cover more times within the space of three years than Princess Diana had done in her lifetime.’

On a related note, Kate was voted the magazine’s Young Style Icon of 2011.

CTV has put together a wonderful compendium of photos online titled “Picture Perfect Princess,” showing fifty of Kate’s “best looks,” a story I think Kate style fans will enjoy.

It seems Kate’s influence has also impacted what city is the most fashionable: London has now surpassed New York for the top spot.  This is according to a survey by an entity known as Global Language Monitor, the group tracks the use of words and phrases in a variety of media. Here is more from the Sydney Morning Herald:

“”We are seeing what the impact of two genuine media stars, Princess Kate and Alexander McQueen can have upon a global ranking. Our numbers show that it was their presence that tipped the victory to London over New York,” the survey’s fashion correspondent Bekka Payack said in a statement.”

Also worth seeing, a lovely video, “Kate in Canada,” the link is to the first of two parts; set aside 20 minutes for Part 1, put your feet up and have a cup of tea. Our thanks to Facebook friends Anna from Our Small Obsessions (a Facebook community focused on Kate’s jewelry) and Trisha for alerting everyone about the video. 🙂

We have an update on last week’s post about the Katherine Hooker trunk shows starting soon in the US; our friend A Petite Princess has been in touch with the company about adapting its elegant styles for those not quite as tall as the Duchess, click here to see that information.

Finally today, we want to share an outstanding chance to save on pieces by a label Kate is fond of, Lib©lula. The company is offering 50% off everything with promo code ss11presale. Kate’s Dulwich Coat is sold out in navy and black, but available in several other colors, including the regal purple and grey shown in our photo.

Just a random FYI! Rue La La is having a Mulberry sale and one of the items on the sale is the Mulberry Polly Push Lock Kate took to Canada. It sold out fast but they have a waitlist so if it becomes available they'll have it sent to you. I think it's a couple hundred off of the original price!

Hello, just wondering-- I am desperate to know what glasses pippa wore this past weekend pictured here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/08/15/pippa-middleton-alex-loudon_n_927101.html#s330113

another site said they were Alexander McQueen Havana glasses but I'm not convinced. The McQueens have different kinds of screws on the fron and no slight silver stripe on the side.

Any ideas? Thanks so much!

I enjoyed seeing all the pictures that were put together... and I can't wait until I have time to watch the video clips of Kate visiting MY country! ;)

I don't know about other fellow readers but my favorite looks of the Duchess is still the Alexander McQueen Military coat and the Erdem all over lace dress. The zara dress is a stunning piece, too. So I think her favorite color should really be blue, rather than white. :)
