In almost every instance being a Royal is a job for life, whether one is born into it or marries into ‘the firm’. It is also a job that frequently means your life is not your own. Even when on a rigorously scheduled Royal Tour there can be deviations from “The Plan,” as was the case today. Part of William and Kate’s ‘personal day’ was replaced by a trip to Slave Lake in northern Alberta, they knew of the extraordinary damage the community suffered from a wildfire and wanted to see it in person.
During the May fire the entire population of the town, 7000 residents, had to be evacuated.
Kate was in her skinny jeans again. Since Saturday several commenters have shared there belief one/both pair of Kate’s jeans are by MiH Jeans. We have been in touch with MiH:
We understand the confusion, one of the challenges on identifying this item was not being able to better see some of the details. Unfortunately we couldn’t see the cute logo on Kate’s jeans, thus our reluctance to say they were by this company (whose jeans are darling by the way!) Our thanks to the good folks at MiH for their gracious assistance today.
We said in Saturday’s post we thought one pair was close to the J. Brand Olympia Jegging, it turns out they are J Brand, the 811.
The Duchess also wore the Smythe jacket again, over a creamy white ruffled blouse we haven’t previously seen.
The 1 Button Blazer is a jacket we saw earlier on the trip. (For those new to the blog, Smythe is based in Toronto.)
As Eva first shared with us in a comment and we tweeted this morning, Kate’s belt is by Linda Camm.
Ms. Camm’s company is located in Tanzania, she works with more than 200 Masai tribeswomen and others creating leather products with exquisite beadwork.
One update to yesterday’s post: the debate continues about the Duchess’s shirt, there are some reports it is by Burberry, we will update if/when we verify it is the Burberry shirt.
Finally, today’s photo-that-has-nothing-to-do-with-Kate’s-clothing showcases six-year-old Riley Oldford, below we see the Prince chatting with him.
Much as Riley seems to enjoy meeting the Prince, he was not letting go of those flowers for *anything*. They were not for the Prince, he wanted to give them to someone else.
And he did.

hi where can you buy kates burbery shirt
Does anyone know the name of the designer of the beautiful cream ruffled blouse?
Hello from M.
I was wondering if any one knows, where that frilly blouse that Kate was wearing under that smythe les vests. Where did she buy that. Does any one know. and her backless shoes. I like them. so can any one tell me I would also like to know, what color of that jacket too, and the color of her backless shoes, as well. If you know can you let me know. thanks
Thanks
M
Those cropped skinny jeans are 100% J Brand. They are identical and fit identical to ones I (and many other girls in Vancouver because they sell them at Aritiza) own! I can tell by the slightly navy faded denim colour and stitching in the back. Love J Brand, good choice Duchess!
J brand has the 811 in navy on line now! how do your jeans fit. I order a size 25 and 26 I wear Express jeans in size 0 if that helps. I hope they fit.
The olive green blouse looks very similar to a silk shirt Club Monaco did around April time.
!
If it is – she has impecable taste as CM is one of my favorite stores – not to mention that shirt is currently hanging in my closet
Love your site ! Tis my guilty pleasure.
I love the soldier with the floral bag……… He needs that framed up for him!!!
Is that shirt the Silk Camp Shirt by Banana Republic?
As much as I love Wills and Kate, it is glaringly obvious Kate needs a Royal stylist. Not only has she worn jeans and shoes many times during a ten day trip, the black shoes are utterly horrible. I have seen much better in Wal Mart. While her inexpensive, mallish clothing has made her dear to our hearts, in some outfits, such as her yellow dress today, she looks downright frumpy and old.
Whoa, one fashion mis-step and it’s off with her head huh?
I have to agree. Im glad she wore some color but i think she could have chosen a better fitting dress. The dress just seemed to hang on her. I just posed a comment on one of the other threads about how im surprised most of the dresses she has worn on this tour dont look like she is swimming in the but this one does. She is too skinny for this dress.
I agree too. Sadly. I was so looking forward to seeing her clothes on this trip. After seeing what she’s worn at other events here in the UK I had high hopes but have felt disappointed in general.
Yes, the Issa dress worn in the evening on Canada day was wow! And although I don’t like her white engagement dress (too busy), teamed up with that glorious red hat, shoes and darling clutch bag I thought that was another wow!
LOVE this blog! can’t wait to see the pics of them in Calgary!! YAHOO – cowboy hats, plaid shirt – hopefully a cute jean skirt on Kate. Calgary is all a buzz right now – we can’t wait for them to Stampede with us!!!!
I really want those J Brand jeans but they are sold out on line. Has anyone been able to find them.
They have different colours on Net-A-Porter, like some gorgeous red ones.
I want the Smythe blazer, but it sold out in between me picking my size and inputting my payment details
This is my new fav blog; I read everyday and LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I love that you post the luggage photos, I love the sweet nothing-to-do-with-Kate’s-clothing photos, I love your humor in those of us that are ‘much too interetsed’. Thank you for all your work putting your posts together!! They do not go unappreciated by those of us that adore Kate (and Will).
Sorry, I try again. Probably the comment wasn’t submitted. Did anyone id the burberry shirt? thanks a lot
Did anyone yet id the burberry shirt. i love that, but i can’t find it anywhere. thanks a lot.
Gabrielle – Catherine is 5 ft 10 inches (which is quite tall for a woman) and William is 6 feet 3 inches, also tall for a man. She is usually wearing heels, which adds probably 3 inches to her heighth.
I just came across this site, and it is wonderful!
And if that little kid giving the flowers to Catherine were any more moving, I’d be weeping full-on as opposed to just a little misty-eyed right now.
Do you have an answer on the ruffled blouse yet? I would swear I had seen her in that during her single days. Maybe with jeans out in the country? Or maybe I’m just dreaming.
I LOVE this blog. You do such a fantastic job of giving all the details. I love the luggage shots as I am (much too) interested in every detail about Kate and William. That evening gown looks sort of like the Jenny Packham she wore to the ARK Gala. Not to be negative, but I hope it isn’t. I want her to wear something new.
There appears to be an absence of evening wear. Is that because there are no formal dinners on this tour, or is the press being kept away from these events?
I am really enjoying your reporting of the tour. Thank you.
(apologies if this post appears twice. My computer is misbehaving)
William and Kate are just two amazing down to earth, happily in love, genuine people!
BTW: Just read that the top is Burberry: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2012054/Duchess-Cambridge-Kate-Middleton-wears-favourite-J-Brand-jeans-3-days-row.html
Came across your website 2 days ago. Thank you! It is just awesome!!!!!! You now have an avid follower from South Africa
those pictures of the soldiers moving Kate’s wardrobe is really funny … and confidential, a touch of warth which brings us in the daily routine of an high profile couple.
I loved the blazer + jeans ensemble.
Agree about the blazer and jeans, not a fan of the ruffles…too busy…
you mean the blouse? well, i tink the ensamble is so minimalistic in colours and lines that can stand a frivoulous detail.
Am loving all the posts – Bonnie – keep in mind that this is all done in love and fun. The hunt for the brand is an adventure and that is exactly what each brand is hoping for!
Beautiful couple, so in love!
About the outfit, she is young and in very good shape but i think skinny jeans aren’t suitable for formal or official occasions. She isn’t a soubrette or a wag but the young wife of a young heir to the throne, she needs a compromise between fashion and formalities: cigarette or straight leg jeans!
Bea – I completely agree! This is the first time I’ve seen Kate wear something I consider inappropriate. From the front the jeans (or these look more like jegggings) are ok, but from the back – WAY too tight. And the cut-out in the blazer just serves to call attention to that.
Agree, and I know that she would still look stellar in more formal pants!
Actually, the truth of the matter is that she can wear whatever the hell she wants and it’ll still be made a big deal of.
Are the shoes she’s wearing different or the same as her post-wedding shoes?
I am totally loving your blog posts!!! I not only love seeing what Kate wears, but am enjoying seeing what happens on the tour. It’s neat to see Kate and William working as a team and they do seem very sincere in what they do.
Anyway– random question, but what would one wear under that light weight cream blouse? You can’t tell she has another layer underneath but surely you would need to cover things up. However, you wouldn’t want the underneath cami or whatever to bunch up… I’m just curious!
Thanks for your great posts!!
I love that she is reusing! Any girl who goes on a 10-day holiday really needs to pick outfits that she can make the most of, and apparently Kate is no different. It’s great to see that Kate continues to adhere to her normal high-street purchases for the most part, and that she’s mixing new with old, and high with low. I hope she keeps it up and doesn’t become too McQueen (though a little is clearly good for a to be Princess!).
How tall is Kate? She looks rather shorter than I imagine compared to William in her flats! I loved the pics from today, so sweet.
Kate is 5’10″
I loved these pictures. I know I should be focused on school, but I just really love the way that Catherine pulls off the sophisticated and stylish look that I love and that she does it so easily. I am thinking that after the trip is over I will take each of her outfits and try to find something similar to it that works for someone who is as short as I am (4 foot 8 inches) and who is in a wheelchair or walker like me (3 or 4 inch heels are out)
I will admit that I am pleased that they have met and received flowers from 2 little children (both boys) in wheelchairs. Nice to see royals who don’t ignore a population that sometimes can feel “left out”…William’s mother would be proud I think.
Is she making it ok to wear black shoes with navy? Or did she just want casual on the bottom but nicer on the top and that was all she had packed? I trust her judgement!
who makes that floral luggage tote I like it
Cath Kidston does the luggage bags!
I found it last night after I wrote the post. She doesnt make the exact one Kate has though. She only has a few on line.
I will give her the benefit of the doubt that she planned for having an off day… and that’s what she got. Black shoes, brown belt? Two shades of navy? Poor gal needs a nap.
Looking forward to tomorrow though and seeing that pink gown in person!
And I just loved loved loved the hoodie pics with William helping her fix the ties. Darling.
http://articles.cnn.com/2011-04-19/world/uk.royal.photographer.insights_1_william-and-kate-middleton-royal-photographer-love-and-marriage?_s=PM:WORLD Did anyone notice that Arthur Edwards took one of the pix? He’s been taking photos of William since he was a baby.
I really enjoy reading these posts: I appreciate that you post “no post before it’s time” — what’s the hurry? It’s fun to read all the good ideas and I suppose that Clarence House must appreciate the public’s interest as well since they have been sharing some information with the royal journalists. Perhaps they see the interest as a boost for the British fashion industry.
For the J Brand 811 Skinny jeans I know Kate is wearing the Navy color but on J Brands website is the fancier name for navy shadow? I cant tell if the shadow color is black.
I am so glad that our young women of today have someone new and respectable to follow as far as style. Our young ladies of today and the future will understand that there is something to be said of modesty, of knowing not everything you do needs to be texted or tweeted to everyone. That actions speak louder than words. And manners have a place in this world. I hope for the best for these two and even my 6 year old daughter can tell there is something special here and she wants to be like Catherine in a lot of ways. I don’t mind my daughter following this young lady.
Today’s pictures were so touching. William and Catherine are a lovely couple, and not just because they’re pretty to look at.
I think what struck me most about the pictures of the luggage was how ordinary it all looked. Suitcases, garment bags, etc., all looking like it could be on any airport baggage claim carousel. I remember seeing a documentary about Charles and Diana when I was a kid, and the many, many, MANY wardrobe trunks, steamer trunks, hat boxes, etc. they took with them on tour were amazing to see. Royal travel — at least for those who aren’t the Queen or Prince of Wales — has really changed, I guess!
Your blog is fantastic and so much fun. Thanks and keep up the great work.
I LOVE that picture of Prince William helping Kate with her sweatshirt. It makes them look like a normal couple.
I totally agree! I felt the same way when I saw the photo; adorable!
sorry I called you carly please forgive me
!
Oh wow Carly. This is your best post thus far! just fantastic moved me to tears what these two are doing for others especially in slave lake. God bless this beautiful couple.
Could today’s blouse be this couture couture one?
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oztwGYeCXss/ThUE93nIjDI/AAAAAAAAAbE/bmcF6emfGng/s1600/cou.jpg
They certainly seem to be a caring and loving couple.
On a completely superficial note, is the gown in the garment bag the Jenny Packham worn at the ark gala? Fashion wise, I hope not, but my pocket book hopes so.
I was thinking the same thing about the gown. It appears to have the same lines and the color is right. Would she wear this one again so soon, though? I also love this blog. It’s so much easier jt to check here every day than to scour the news looking for clues! I love Kate’s style and the grace with which she carries herself. Oh… also her shoes!
But the dress doesn’t appear to have the same crystals and sequins as the Jenny Packham gown…I doubt even she would wear the same evening dress, to two high profile events twice though!
This post is fantastic! I love the pictures of the soldiers moving Kate’s very feminine looking luggage! The little boy is darling, absolutely precious!
Wonderful, wonderful job!
Yes, people, please leave this woman alone. she is no doubt absolutely stunning, lovely beautiful …all of that.. but this obsession, this madness to find out every single detail about every piece of clothing she wears is not good.. (there are more important things to spend this much time on) But, it is not good for Kate, she should not have to be scrutinized like this.. I can only think that this is fuel for the paparazzi and the way williams mother was murdered, pretty much b/c she was stalked.
This is an official visit, Bonnie — it comes attendant with a press pool, as well as access granted to local media. Kate is well aware that what she wears will be observed, discussed and scrutinized at great length, which is why she chooses outfits that convey specific messages: for instance, designers relevant to where they are visiting.
In short: this is very harmless stuff, and is part and parcel of having an official public position. Kate was well aware of this when she agreed to marry William, and if anything appears to be taking to the role with some relish, if you consider her wardrobe choices and regular changes during day appearances.
Since their marriage, it does not appear that Kate has been hounded to any inappropriate level; you don’t see media camped out at their private residence, for instance. People are here because they admire or enjoy the Duchess’s style choices. Perhaps there are “more important” things we could be spending time on — but there are also far worse things. Everyone needs some fun and frivolity in their lives, and for some of us, that’s having some fun with watching fashion.
Such touching photos of Riley Oldford – - it brings tears to my eyes. This is one of the true demonstrations of honour and virtue by this young man as he awaits for the Duchess. And this is the sort of thing that will make William a great King based on his compassion, empathy and taking the time out to make a little boy’s day one to remember. As Anthony Trollope said, “And though it is much to be a nobleman, it is more to be a gentleman.”. This trip has shown us that despite privileges of our favoured son of England, there is no rank between William and people he meets. Altruism at its highest!
Thank you once again, WKW for an exceptional piece.
xxoo
Jennifer
Oh gosh that last photo made me get all teary!
A tear in the eye here too!
WKW – An insightful, amusing (the hat box guy is a classic!), informative (can we identify the gown before she’s even put it on?) and very well composed post – thank you for all your efforts. Tis much appreciated
I don’t know about “much too interested”, mildly obsessed (me) would probably be more apt… lol
Me too! Very, very cute!
Great article, thanks for all your hard work!!!
I forced my husband to see those last two pictures, and I think he even got a little teared up by the cuteness! Loved it and thanks for the post!
You’re not the only one! I, too, got teary-eyed when I saw that last picture. It’s so sweet and touching. Very cute!
