Kate Is Light and Lacy in Yellow Again as Couple Says Goodbye to Solomon Islands

William and Kate returned from their brief getaway on a private island overnight, here we see them deplaning after flying back to Honiara.

You have a closer look at the dress in this photo from Rebecca English.

The couple never left Henderson Field, as it was time for them to say goodbye to Honiara and the Solomon Islands altogether, moving on to their final stop on the Tour, Tuvalu. Kate carried a fan to stay cool in the warm temps and high humidity.

Aides told reporters accompanying the couple very much enjoyed their time on Tavanipupu; more in this tweet from Paul Harrison of Sky News.

It’s good to know they were able to relax and unwind a bit.

Kate’s dress today is by “an independent dressmaker,” according to the Palace.

We don’t know if it’s the same individual who made her Christmas coat, or someone entirely different.

The dress is described as being primrose yellow. It features a boat neckline, a self belted waistline, full short sleeves that are not lined and it hits a few inches above the knee. It seems the Duchess may have a textile theme going on the Tour, this is the third frock in traditional broderie anglaise, or eyelet, material.

It looked as though Kate gave herself a respite from hose (tights), this would be the second time she has done that, nor did she wear pantyhose yesterday either. (A very wise move, especially considering the locales.)  She wore her Stuart Weitzman Minx wedges again.

Kate’s hair looked wonderful, it was in a lovely updo, a nice change and probably much cooler.

The Duchess also repeated the Kiki McDonough Citrine Drop earrings.

William and Kate are in the air as I type, I am actually going to keep this update very brief, and hope to return later this evening/morning if there is a change of clothing. We leave you with this image of a young Scout at Funafuti, the Tuvalu airport, shared by Andy Browning.  The young man is awaiting the couple’s arrival, many will recall Kate is a volunteer with UK Scouting, she will be seeing some Scouts during the visit.

Our thanks to Andy Browning for sharing the picture, he currently lives in Tuvalu and works as a Scout Development Ambassador.

UPDATE: Kate & William have landed in Tuvalu and she remains in her yellow dress. The next ensemble we’ll see is likely at the dinner this evening hosted by the Governor-General.

Cute concept, but the sleeves should be cut less full. Also, if the skirt were more a-line I think it would look a bit better. Color is lovely on her.

Dress does nothing for her. She should dress her age - not older.

I was really taken by this dress at first glance, but the photos of the fabric up-close do not impress me. I've really enjoyed all the other broderie anglaise she has worn on this tour, but the fabric here feels dated, not fresh. I'm not a particular fan of the way the color has been done, with the main fabric being white and the embroidery around the flowers being yellow. Also, I feel like the fabric is too heavy for the cut of those sleeves. The sleeves are similar to the Saunders dress she wore the other day, but the fabric of that dress worked much better.

My issues with the dress aside, the Duchess looks beautiful. I love her hair up like this!

Love the color and fabric of this dress. I am not a fan of chunky shoes in general, and definately not with this delicate dress. The updo is perfect. I can't believe the Dutchess didn't wear her hair up more often during the tour, given the heat!

Many of the cuts, styling and colour choice of the dresses {and hat} that Kate has worn during this tour is specific to the local dress. These are not 'fashions' that you will see repeated or copied because the Duchess wore them, they are designed specific for the tour. The fabrics are used to compliment and respect the traditions of islands they visit.

I love that this is the how she chooses what to wear, and in the one instance, to change the wardrobe plan to wear a dress that was a present from the government. We saw her choices for the Canada tour reflect the events and locations also and as others have mentioned, it is important to see the context for the apparel, not just as an outfit on its own.
