The Princess of Wales wore new pieces for a meeting today with the Archbishop of Canterbury.
The Prince and Princess of Wales visited Dame Sarah Mullally at Lambeth Palace, the Archbishop’s official London residence. Dame Sarah is the first female Archbishop of Canterbury in the Church’s history.
Kate Mansey of The Times shared a video as the royals and the Archbishop were seated in her study.

More on today’s visit from the UK Press Association via this piece in The Argus.
It is understood the visit reflects the importance the prince and princess place on faith and the couple want to build a strong working relationship with the senior cleric.
The visit comes after Dame Sarah made the oath of allegiance to the sovereign on Wednesday, in which she acknowledged the King as the supreme governor of the Church of England, in a traditional ceremony dating back to the reign of Elizabeth I.

Dame Sarah was confirmed as the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury last week in a service at St. Paul’s Cathedral.
There will be an Installation service at Canterbury Cathedral in March.
More on today’s visit via The Telegraph’s coverage.
The couple spent their time with her discussing the role of churches in communities across the country and the work of The Royal Foundation. The Prince and Princess’s 30-minute meeting with the Archbishop also saw the couple discuss access to green space in the capital city.
The Princess honed in on the gardens outside her study and remarked: “Particularly in the centre of London, it’s actually amazing how much green space there is.”

Below, the couple’s signatures in the Lambeth Palace guest book.
Speaking after the meeting, the Archbishop said: “I know we hold the same hope for a better world, and I look forward to working together in the years to come. I will continue to hold them and their family in my prayers.”
Now, for our look at what Kate wore today.
Her coat looks like a bespoke Catherine Walker design, much like the one she has also worn in black and navy.
It features elements similar to those seen in the Catherine Walker Yves style: a single-breasted design with notch lapels, a back vent, and raised shoulders. Obviously, the Princess’s version does not have the slit cuffs or other features seen in the Yves.
The Princess appears to be wearing a new Edeline Lee dress, the brand’s Jete Crop Dress ($2080) in ‘Flou Bubble Jacquard,’ a style made in England in fabric manufactured in Italy from the A/W 2025 collection. The dress is snug through the bodice, waist, and hips before flaring into a full skirt, one of the Princess’s favorite silhouettes. It is made of polyester with a touch of elastane and features a round neckline, a hidden back zipper, and a self-belt; the Princess’s buckle is also covered in fabric to match the dress.
The long sleeve version is available in very limited sizes at SOSUSU, a New Orleans boutique. The sleeveless style is offered at Edeline Lee ($2020). As shown in these close-ups, the fabric has a pebbled texture.
Thank you to Royally Inspired and Kate Middleton Styled for the coat and dress IDs.
The Princess brought back her Gianvito 105 pumps in ‘chocolate’ suede, the brand’s point-toe style with a spike heel. It is available at Farfetch ($795),
It appeared the Princess wore a new Daniella Draper necklace, the Gold Keeper’s Heart Trace Chain Necklace ($2200) with personalization ($21). It is made with recycled 9ct yellow gold, and the description says it “symbolises love and connection”.
Thank you to Irish Sara and Kate Middleton Styled for their speedy necklace ID. The Princess also wore her Cartier Trinity earrings. UPDATE: With thanks to Berry Rose for pointing this out in a comment, it’s possible the Princess is wearing the version of the necklace set with diamonds. It’s tough to tell because I do not have terrific close-up photos today, but I think Berry Rose is probably correct.

Also in today’s coverage, the Princess marked World Cancer Day with a video released by Kensington Palace.

— The Prince and Princess of Wales (@KensingtonRoyal) February 4, 2026
The Princess speaks about the “fear and exhaustion” experienced by cancer patients in the 40-second video.
From the Princess’s voice track: “Cancer touches so many lives. Not only patients, but the families and friends and caregivers who walk beside them. As anyone who has experienced this journey will know, it’s not linear. There are moments of fear and exhaustion. But also moments of strength, kindness, and profound connection.”
The video used in the piece is from the Princess’s January 2025 visit to the Royal Marsden, where she was treated.
The Princess was also wearing Edeline Lee, the Plait Skirt ($890), when she visited the Royal Marsden last January.

Catherine PofW, is a very beautiful and heart based person. It's unfortunate that she continues to choose fall based colours - brown, burnt orange and olive just aren't flattering with her skin tone. Her blonder hair is also not as flattering with her skin tone as her natural brunette. She's young and should were clothing that reflects her age and joyfulness - have fun with design and colour!. Alot of her colour and pattern choices in the past year haven't reflected this. I think it's time she got a new stylist to help her with this, to showcase her engaging personality better when doing public engagements.

A blow for all those that were so pleased to see colour with the orange coat wear in Wales!! Back to all autumnal shades....... Still, I do the same when the weather is damp, dreary and miserable like it is at present. However, I do not have any nice colourful coats to brighten up a day, Catherine does. A brighter shade would have been nice.
Am in two minds about the shoulders on the coat, that exaggerated 'upwards flick' looks a bit costume-y, but the model version with that touch of velvet looks nicer. As Catherine kept the coat on we don't really seer the dress but it seems to fall quite nicely. Quite pricey but then again, manufacturing anything of quality in the UK costs a bomb so one is between a rock and a hard place if we want to go 'local'.
It is always lovely to see William and Catherine on joint engagements.

It is historically very significant that the Church of England, known also as Anglican or Episcopalian, has installed the first female Archbishop of Canterbury. The visit by William and Kate is important, as Sarah Mullally might well be in the position when William becomes King and Defender of the Faith.
Lately many WKW readers have expressed dislike when Kate wears brown, finding the colour dull, and not flattering on her. I don’t like Kate’s outfit today and it isn't the brown that bothers me. The coat has merit, although the pointed shoulders seem to be so overly exaggerated, compared to the black and navy versions. I find it negative when people say that Kate looks matronly, however, that is one word I would apply to this dress. The pebbled texture, the polyester, the lines of the dress, the fullness, the length and yes even the colour brown, when combined together make this dress look quite frumpy and dowdy. The jewellery and the shoes are fine, but they are not significant enough to rescue this uninspired look.
Kate's message for World Cancer Day is very touching and has great credibility, because of course, she has experienced the horrors of this illness.

I love a dark, bitter, chocolate brown, it's a great neutral. The Princess looks lovely, and the sheer chocolate pantyhose are a modern touch. I quite like the design of the dress, but its a shame that is made from polyester. I understand there are other costs involved but I cannot fathom charging $2000+ for a dress made of plastic.
With all we know about microplastics, I'm always disappointed when the Princess wears polyester. It's especially odd when she's being doing so much great work lately to highlight the work of UK textile mills, like she did the day before yesterday. The brown and orange Welsh fabric coat, the whole of yesterday's outfit was stunning and very chic. It obviously had a 70s influence/vibe but still felt very modern. To me, wearing wool, cashmere, linen, and cotton is much more chic than plastic.
I maybe be wrong, but I think her new necklace might be the "Starry Night" version of the Keeper's Heart Necklace. It looks to me like there are diamonds on the pendent, I can make out 4 of them and I think they are in similar layout to the image on the website.

You may well be correct, Berry Rose; thank you for the comment pointing this out. I have updated the post with an added link to the version with diamonds. :)

I think these sombre colours the Princess seems to prefer lately are not so flattering to her skin tone and wash her out. I also think the shoulder pads on this new coat are very odd. This is sadly a miss for me.
