Kate went with an off-white shift dress from Jaeger for this morning’s engagement at the National Maritime Museum.
Below you see the Duchess with the little girl who was to present her with a bouquet of flowers, the young lady became terribly shy.
The dress was ideal for a warm sunny day.
Olympic sailor Sir Ben Ainslie is leading an effort to win the 2017 America’s Cup race. Kate attended a private breakfast with team members, investors, and others working to achieve that goal. Below you see the Duchess and Sir Ben standing by the Cup this morning.
More from the America’s Cup website:
Sir Ben Ainslie, the most successful Olympic sailor in history, is setting his sights on the America’s Cup.
“This is the last great historic sporting prize never won by Great Britain. It has always been my ambition to mount a home challenge,” he said.
Many will recall William and Kate meeting New Zealand’s America’s Cup team last month, before competing against each other in a race.
That Kate’s team won.
From The Mirror’s story:
Former Channel 4 boss Lord Grade, a board member of Britain’s bid to win the race, said of Kate: “She’s a keen sailor, she loves her sailing clearly, you can just tell. You can see it in her eyes. It’s great for everybody she’s got behind it and supporting it.”
Sir Keith Mills, also a board member, said Sir Ben had offered to take Prince George out on the water when he is old enough, and Kate readily agreed.
On to the fashion details. Kate was in Jaeger’s ‘Crepe Dress with Trim.’
The dress originally sold at $252 (£150), it is from Jaeger’s spring collection. The ivory knee-length shift is 100% polyester crepe, with short sleeves and navy trim at the shoulders and waist.
The only retailer we can find with any remaining stock is John Lewis, where we only see the dress in Size 8.
The Duchess accessorized with her Stuart Weitzman Muse clutch from Russell and Bromley, and her blue suede heels from Alexander McQueen.
Kate wore her sapphire and diamond earrings, her Cartier watch, and the Asprey Woodland Collection charms necklace.
One FYI, Jaeger’s summer sale starts in stores tomorrow, but the sale prices are already in effect online.
There are even a few nautically themed frocks on sale. On the left we show a classic Breton Stripe knit jersey dress, it was originally £99 (about $165), it is on sale for £65 (about $100). On the right we show another Breton stripe dress, the Rope Trim Jersey Dress, embellished in a nautical rope motif; pricing is identical to that of the previous dress.
We’ll leave you with this video showing President Kennedy’s remarks at the 1962 America’s Cup dinner in Newport, Rhode Island
One of the President’s more notable quotes comes from that event.
All of us have in our veins the exact same percentage of salt in our blood that exists in the ocean… When we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch it, we are going back from whence we came.”
We’ll be back in a few hours with a look at what Kate wears for this afternoon’s garden party at Buckingham Palace.

Actually it looks shorter in the side view because she has raised her arm and its made the dress seem shorter. I thought it looked great at that length and was disappointed at the frumpy length - I know some favour the term "mature" which I usually reserve for 50+. A hemline that hits mid-knee is very unflattering even for Kate's great legs. I wanted to like this dress more, but don't think it fits all that well -- needed a bit more structure at the shoulders.. Almost looks too big on her.

Cool, bright, crisp, elegant. I really like the blue on this dress, especially at the waist - an nice, understated effect along with the shoes and clutch bag.
This is one of the dresses I personally would not wear, but think it looks fantastic on Kate and very appropriate for the occasion.
I prefer this 'hint of nautical' to the busier striped dresses in this post (although I'm sure they would look great on Kate too).

Not only did the trophy get it's own seat, but it gets a very important suitcase too -- Louis Vuitton
