Poll Results & Mysteries Solved: Kate’s Cowboy Boots, Earrings & Trench Coat

Now that the hullabaloo of the tour has calmed down we can post some things we had to table for the sake of time.

We begin with the results of our first readers’ poll on , but first a quick refresher – we asked you which of the three dresses shown below was your favorite:

Roland Mouret/Canadian Heritage

  1. Roland Mouret with Smythe jacket
  2. The Erdem scoop back dress
  3. The Issa London Bird Print dress

After 4244 votes, here is how you voted:

The clear winner by a wide margin with 65% of the votes is the Erdem Lace Scoop Neck dress worn by the Duchess as she stepped off the plane last Thursday. Thanks to everyone who voted, we will be doing another poll shortly!

Now on to some mysteries solved, beginning with the boots Kate wore to the Calgary Stampede.

The ever-sharp Leisa, a WKW Facebook friend, knew from the moment she saw the boots they were by R. Soles. Leisa received confirmation today from R. Soles Kate was wearing its boots, they are the Vegas Setter style.

R. Soles ‘Vegas Setter’ Boot

The boots are £245, approximately $390 at today’s exchange rate. The company does offer its merchandise online, those fortunate enough to be in the greater London area can visit the R. Soles store on the Kings Road in Chelsea. Thank you once again Leisa! (For more on Kate’s Calgary outfit, click here to read our post.)

UPDATE: Leisa also corresponded with Ben Gerwing of Alberta Boot Company, he verifies that Kate was not wearing the boots made for her. Mr. Gerwing told Leisa she may have had them on later in the day on the second day the couple was at Stampede events, but she was not wearing them in any of the photos we show. Thank you Leisa!

The brilliant Ayvee of Diana’s Jewels (the premier site for learning about Princess Diana’s jewelry and Kate’s as well) has solved another mystery, figuring out who created the earrings seen Friday night with the DVF Maja dress at the Consulate General’s party. They are the “Temple of Heaven” 9ct yellow gold girandole earrings at Cassandra Goad (appropriately located on Sloane St.), currently selling online at £1,100, roughly $1750 USD.

Another WKW Facebook pal shared this as well, Lauren Moodie gets a round of applause, we appreciate Lauren letting us know about the earrings!

Finally today, we have the details on Kate’s navy trench coat worn in Canada and as long ago as 2006.

Canadian Heritage/Ted Baker

It turns out Kate Wore the Ted Baker ‘Jinan’ trench coat, dating back quite awhile. Initially we learned about the coat from a commenter who owns one herself, then after we tweeted the brand name @DuchessofCali reported the specific style name, Diana on FB posted a photo and link to an image of the khaki version and Kristen on FB did the same for the navy version, very much a team effort all around.

Ted Baker

The company confirmed on Twitter it was their product after we alerted them to it being worn by the Duchess.

It turns out Ted Baker is releasing a similar version of the coat, our thanks to Laura who left a comment on the post alerting us to this. Here is a photo of the coat Ted Baker released via its Facebook page.

And the coat description:

“Ted’s navy trench gets royal seal of approval. Come reign or shine, you can get the Duchess of Cambridge’s look this autumn with the Darsia trench coat arriving in store and online early August.”

It looks like the biggest difference is in the lapels, the cut on the original Jinan was very distinctive. Additionally there is the brown piping trim on the lapels and a seam on the bodice.

That does take three things off the list of items we are trying to hunt down, your detective work is amazing. 🙂

And finally, from Ross Lydall’s column in today’s Evening Standard:

“The Queen is “delighted” with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s tour of North America – and plans to reward the couple with a long holiday. The Standard understands that William and Kate, who were landing at Heathrow this morning on a scheduled British Airways flight, will take two-and-a-half months away from public duties and will not have their next official engagement until the end of September.”

Personally we hope they can get back to Anglesley and settle in for some ‘routine days’ at home. We’ll still be here posting, we’ve loads of mysteries to solve, polls to do and looks to update!

PS: We also wrote about the California portion of the tour at our other blog today, The Preppy Princess, although the post is not quite as fashion-focused. 🙂

LOVE the earrings. There are two similar pairs that I just ordered online. Not quite the same, but also not quite the price:

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to clear something up.

Ben Gerwing... who made the boots which were presented to Kate and Will from the Alberta Boot Company confirmed via email to me that Kate did not wear the presented boots. He says that kate is not wearing the boots he made on the above photos but has been informed that she did wear them on the second day but later on. Therefore as I previously sourced Kate's boots in the above photos are R.Soles, London boots which she purchased a couple of years ago.

Many thanks Leisa

Can you dig up some more info on Kate's BAFTA bracelet? From photos I've seen on other sites, it seems like a major piece of bling. Perhaps it was loaned to her, as well?

Hi,

First, thank you for such a great infomative website. It is really a delight to see that such a high calibre site exists without any ad, pop ups, porn, or etc.

Second, about the duchess herself, I just wanted to say that it is such a breath of fresh air to show to the world that YOU CAN BE CHIC, STYLISH, FASHIONABLE, WITHOUT BEING HALF NAKED, SHOWING CLEAVEG, OR BARING HALF OF YOUR UPPER BODY!!!
