The two tiaras in this photo are NOT the same!

There are several websites circulating this incorrect photo and information.

The one on the left is the 1934 Egyptian-style Lotus tiara, which belonged to the Begum Aga Khan. Its design is of stylized wedge-shaped lotus flowers, and it’s meant to be worn across the top of the head like a hairband, with the design standing out like a frame around the head.

Kate’s tiara is a 1936 scrolls design, with rounded curved swirls. It is worn in the traditional way, at an angle on the head, with the sides curving downwards towards the back. This tiara was owned by the Queen Mother.
