Kate Does Some Shopping, Shola Re-Released & Another Designer Discovered

No sooner do we put together a post filled with odds and ends and get it published yesterday, then we hear that Kate is out and about in London, doing some shopping for housewares at Peter Jones yesterday.

The store is located on Sloane Square, it is part of the John Lewis department store most readers are familiar with by now. More from a Pop Sugar story:

“Kate Middleton was escorted by a security guard into a waiting Range Rover in London yesterday….Kate’s shopped at the high-end retailer before and this time she apparently browsed rugs, pillows, bed linens, and kitchen items…”

This is the same store where Kate and Carole Middleton were seen shopping back in January of 2005. (Corrected, originally we said January of this year, our thanks to Lauren & Janet for pointing out the error.)

We noticed in the Pop Sugar story Kate was actually wearing sunglasses atop her head, something we do not generally see.  She was in her favorite French Sole ballet flats, a pair of cropped skinny jeans and a lacy top. Initially we thought Kate might be wearing the blouse shown below, one she hypothetically purchased at Warehouse for her honeymoon. But the hem is substantially different, as is the placement of the gathering at the waist.

We’ll update when we know the origins of the blouse and what brand Kate’s jeans are as well. (To read more about the pre-honeymoon shopping, click here.)

This isn’t the only recent shopping jaunt for Kate, apparently she did a little antiquing with her family on Sunday. Newbury Today reports the Duchess visited the Hungerford Emporium and Hungerford Arcade, both what we call ‘antique malls’ on this side of the pond, with wares from multiple dealers available under one roof.  From Tanya Haji’s story:

Visitors and workers in the town were left stunned when the Duchess arrived with her family for some lunchtime shopping.

LeeAnn Day who runs Phoenix Vintage in Hungerford Emporium spotted the Duchess at Hungerford Arcade. Mrs Day had the day off from work and but was in arcade about to have lunch.  She believed that the Duchess was at the arcade with her brother and that she had been in earlier in the week to reserve an item with her mother, Carole Middleton from Bucklebury.

She said: ‘I don’t know what she was buying but everyone was buzzing about it. She was extremely stunning; she was really tiny and gorgeous even though she was just wearing jeans.’

This sounds like a delightful way to spend a spot of time with your family.

Also today, big news for fans of the infamous Reiss Shola dress, the dress has been re-issued. Our always-on-top-of-things friends at Kate Middleton Style Blog shared that news earlier today, here is more from the Reiss blog:

Onwards and upwards with the new season product and this one is sure to be a winner! You may remember that last season we made a little camel coloured dress called Shola? Well, meet Lolla; the new Shola

Here is how the Lolla is described:

A move on from the Reiss Shola dress, Lolla is a timeless day through to evening dress in a vibrant lava red. With short sleeves, an asymmetric neckline, defined waistband and figure hugging skirt, it makes for the perfect office or dinner date dress.

The primary change in the new version of the dress is the neckline, the Lolla’s is more veed, below you can see how it was more squared on the Shola.

Reiss ‘Shola’ and ‘Lolla’ Dresses

Other than the neckline change, the dress is identical. Your trusty correspondent actually finds this modified style much more appealing, the new neckline is sure to be more flattering for most women, and we love the two colors, the nude just isn’t a stellar tone on most ladies. It sells for $330 in the United States, £175 in the UK. If you prefer the Steel Blue shade, click here to see that color.

We have news tonight on the designer of the lovely turquoise earrings Kate wore to the Calgary Stampede during the couple’s North American tour this summer.

Canadian Heritage

A lovely woman shared some of the information via a comment on our original blog post July 8, here is the comment.

My sister made the earrings worn by Kate. She has supplies to make 10 – 15 more pairs of earrings similar to those worn by Kate, but does not have any more stones of the same shape and size. She is going to contact her stone supplier to see if she can get more stones of that size and shape, but doesn’t know if they are available.

I have been corresponding with Tracy, who was so kind in leaving us the comment about the earrings Kate was wearing. Tracy’s sister is named Corrie, and her jewelry company name is “Cowgirl Lookin’ Good”.  Tracy and Corrie are working feverishly to set things up for the business, including a Facebook page and e-commerce capabilities, but that is going to take some time, we all need to be patient. Our thanks to Tracy for letting us know the origins of those lovely earrings! We will keep everyone posted when Cowgirl Lookin’ Good is up and running. For even better photos of the earrings, pop over to visit Diana’s Jewels.

Firstly, LOVE your blog - thank you!

Secondly: when clicking on the Shola Marine Blue dress on the Reiss website, I can't seem to access it in order to buy it. When I click on the link, it takes me to the entire collection of Reiss women's dresses

Anyone else having the same problems / know why this is?

Morning

Any ideas about the bag Carole is carrying in 2005? Might it still be available? Totes are useful and the colour is appealing.

I've seen the jeans identified elsewhere as the Paige Denim Skyline Ankle Peg jeans ($189), but can't confirm if that's right or not.

I don't think the jeans are by Paige Denim. You can tell they are not by the different color jean in the butt pocket area and on the waist band right above the butt area. The jeans Kate is wearing are one solid shade and appear to be lighter then the Paige Denim Skyline ones that I see on their website.
