As always, there are oodles of updates and tidbits to share, we shall attempt to jam as many as possible into tonight’s post.
We begin with a story in tomorrow’s Express about Kate’s charitable activities, the paper says she plans to follow in Princess Diana’s footsteps, making private visits to charities.
She has begun paying personal visits to organisations in recent days and plans to get to know a variety of good causes before making her decision in the new year.
A St James’s Palace spokesman said: “The Duchess is using the next few months to get to know a number of charitable and other causes better, so she can make well-informed decisions about her future role. The Duchess plans to meet a wide range of people and make private visits.
She plans to spend the rest of this year supporting her husband in his work as an RAF helicopter search and rescue pilot and on his occasional public engagements.
Aides have cited what they say is a tradition of women marrying into the Royal Family waiting for around two years before performing official duties on their own.
We appreciate Mr. Palmer’s comment on that hypothetical 2-year tradition: “It’s not much of a tradition, as far as I can see…” To read Richard’s post in its entirety, click here.
Other quick items:
- Yesterday The Guardian ran an intriguing graphic piece “From K Middy to the Duchess: how Kate got the look,” a rather odd six degrees of separation type thing that mostly went over my head, WKW Facebook friends seemed to find it interesting so we wanted to share the link here as well.
- John Lewis (a Kate fave) has announced they will now ship to customers in the US, a £15 fee applies and delivery will only take 4-6 business days.
- We are only two weeks from the annual Boodles Boxing Ball, but still no word on whether or not Kate and William will be in attendance, we promise to let you know as soon as we hear anything on the topic. Kate fans know that several of her most notable gowns debuted at this event.
