Kate’s Charity Work, Issa London Spring 2012 & More

As always, there are oodles of updates and tidbits to share, we shall attempt to jam as many as possible into tonight’s post.

We begin with a story in tomorrow’s Express about Kate’s charitable activities, the paper says she plans to follow in Princess Diana’s footsteps, making private visits to charities.

She has begun paying personal visits to organisations in recent days and plans to get to know a variety of good causes before making her decision in the new year.

A St James’s Palace spokesman said: “The Duchess is using the next few months to get to know a number of charitable and other causes better, so she can make well-informed decisions about her future role. The Duchess plans to meet a wide range of people and make private visits.

The Express also has a blog post from Richard Palmer, the paper’s Royal Reporter, looking at Kate’s appearance schedule.

She plans to spend the rest of this year supporting her husband in his work as an RAF helicopter search and rescue pilot and on his occasional public engagements.

Aides have cited what they say is a tradition of women marrying into the Royal Family waiting for around two years before performing official duties on their own.

We appreciate Mr. Palmer’s comment on that hypothetical 2-year tradition: “It’s not much of a tradition, as far as I can see…” To read Richard’s post in its entirety, click here.

It's so strange to read how designers dismiss her when it's been clear that Kate drives up a designer's cache so much when she wears their clothes or accessories; some of them are probably just annoyed she doesn't want to wear their clothes. Mulberry is definitely getting much more popular with Americans now, and designers ultimately have to create something that consumers will want. The way I see it, Kate is going to be influential in the way that Jackie O was, and time will certainly tell.

Green dress second from the right is to die for!

No surprise, but you & your alter ego are posting my very favorite recent runway looks today. Between that first Issa row - particularly the 2nd to right green sleeveless frock - and the turquoise & pink confection you noted, I'm loving the Issa.

Happy to hear that John Lewis news; I've only ever ordered from them for an overseas friend but I had a great experience with that & Hear Good Things.

She was definately much fuller and toned back 2008. I like her that way better than all skin and bone now. :(

Relax. Obviously her weight is going to be a factor in what she wears and how she looks in it.

Jenny, yes, Issa has done that "wrap" dress (I think it's faux wrap; it has a zipper) in a variety of colors and now this green leaf print. I hope to get a closer look at the print version, because I think I might like to buy it.

To other observers: I know this site is supposed to be about the Duchess, but I'm curious about the green silk dress Philippa Middleton wore to a wedding within the past few days: very retro in style, below-the-knee hem, with rather vintage-look black sandals and a black fascinator. Does anyone know who the designer might be?

I really am starting to think we need a What Pippa Wore too! Not to put any further pressure on the OP... ;-) (the Lord knows I have no idea where she finds the time! I certainly don't have enough in my day between full-time work and uni)

I've seen a few articles about this, but so far none of them have mentioned a definite designer. Is it vintage? I have to admit that I'm on the fence about the look. I do love her fascinator though. That hat gets two thumbs up!
