Happy birthday Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge.
Today Kensington Palace released four new pictures of the young Princess and she looks absolutely precious.
Charlotte wears two outfits in the images, one pink and the other blue; it is the first time I remember seeing her dressed in blue.
The photos were all taken by Kate in Norfolk at the family’s country home this April, and released in advance of Charlotte’s first birthday tomorrow. In the image below you can see Lupo playing in the background. (At least we believe it is Lupo.)
Charlotte is darling in the pictures; her big eyes are still blue, and Kate managed to capture a nice range of facial expressions.
It is always fascinating to look at a child’s face over time. Below you see Charlotte with big brother George in June last year, at her christening in July, in photos taken by Kate in November of last year, in a Christmas card picture from last December, on the family’s ski trip in March, in a photo for the Queen’s 90th birthday and then the new image released today.
I enjoyed seeing the similarities between George and Charlotte at roughly the same age.
Here are a few mother-daughter moments from the past year.
And two more recent pictures.
We share all the details about what Charlotte is wearing in this post at our sister site, What Kate’s Kids Wore. If short on time these two graphics visually sum up the info for you.
And her pink outfit.

Kate's photography is coming on in leaps and bounds, these are such beautiful pictures. The delicate baby skin tones have been captured to perfection and the focus of her portraits is improving rapidly.
It's wonderful how she's captured Charlotte's expressions -- how hard is that to do? No matter how hard you try, baby always moves his or her head too quickly. What I find so arresting here is how our infant princess looks straight into our eyes.
She seems to have her own uniform for photos much as George, I find it hard to distinguish one tiny pink floral from another. Traditional is certainly the theme here. The blue is wonderful on her, reflecting the intense blue of those baby eyes.

I know we are all supposed to focus on the toddler, but what caught my eye, is the furniture in the background in one of the photos. I know, I know, bad form...but I loved the striped couch and white wicker chair. It is probably Charlotte's nursery -- so stylish!

Where all photo's adorable, I love the pic of Charlotte in the Blue dress. My fav! The one where she is standing, she looks so much like Her Majesty.

I also thought Charlotte looked like the Queen in the standing photo. Adorable baby; great pix.

Great photos! Kudos to Kate. The children both have William's nose, I think. They sure look like siblings-- very cute to see the resemblances.

Charlotte sure is a cutie. Those little chubby cheeks are just too sweet. Hard for me to tell exactly who she resembles, but I see some granny Carole in her, some Queen, and some William. Funny that they had one blonde child (George) with brown eyes and the brown haired child (Charlotte) has blue eyes! lol. Funny how genetics work.
I am looking forward to seeing the rest of the Vogue photos. I think her eyebrows are too much, but otherwise its a good look. Love the less eye makeup on her, but now that I've seen it, I can see why she puts on the eyeliner. I read that she is wearing some wide legged pants in these photos. I am one who has grown tired of seeing her always wearing skinny jeans. When chasing after children or watching polo privately, it's fine. For events that she wears pants, I'd like to see her wear more business attire Maybe Vogue advised her on some of her clothing like they did for Diana.

I thought "I can see why she puts on eyeliner", too. If I skip the eyeliner, people tell me I look tired. I think it would look nicer if she applied less of it, though - I find a very thin line right at the lash line is subtle but effective.
