Prince Philip Update & Fashion Flashbacks

Today we have several bits and bytes to share, as well as a couple of Fashion Flashbacks. We begin with news that Prince Philip will remain at King Edward VII Hospital in London for “rest and observation.” He was admitted to the hospital Tuesday night. Here you see him with HM in a photo released last June to mark his 99th birthday.

The Duke of Edinburgh is expected to remain in hospital for “observation and rest” into next week, sources have said.

Philip was admitted to King Edward VII’s hospital on Tuesday evening after feeling unwell and walked unaided into the medical centre.

The duke, who will celebrate his 100th birthday on 10 June, was a non-emergency admission for an undisclosed reason, although it is not coronavirus related.

Sources told PA:“Following consultation with his doctor the Duke of Edinburgh is likely to remain in hospital for observation and rest over the weekend and into next week. As we have said previously the doctor is acting with an abundance of caution. The duke remains in good spirits.”

Hopefully, the Prince will be back at Windsor before too long.

Now for our Fashion Flashbacks, beginning with a style worn eight years ago today when the Duchess was expecting Prince George. 

That is when the Duchess visited Hope House, a residential addiction treatment center for women.

The program was affiliated with Action on Addiction, one of Kate’s patronages.

The Duchess was in a dress from the 2011 Max Mara Studio collection. The garment was officially called the ‘grey long-sleeved dress,’ a v-neck wrap style with long sleeves and a self-belt. Kate elected to wear the belt tied in the front, as opposed to the back.

You get a peek at the grey top worn beneath the dress in the photo below left that also shows the Asprey 167 Button Pendant and Annoushka Pearl Drop Earrings.

The Duchess had on her Episode ‘Angel’ suede heels.

Our other flashback involves another Max Mara piece, this one worn when the Duchess was expecting Princess Charlotte.

The Duchess wore a coat by the brand for engagements six years ago yesterday.  Below, Kate at the Emma Bridgewater factory in Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire. Ms. Bridgewater is on Kate’s right in this photo.

She was there to mark the debut of two Emma Bridgewater mugs being sold as a fundraiser for the EACH Nook Appeal, a fundraising campaign to raise money for a new children’s hospice in Norfolk. (The hospice opened in November 2019.) Below, the Duchess as she tried her hand at decorating some pottery.

The Duchess wore a version of the ‘Gerbera’ coat from the 2014 Max Mara Sportmax collection.  Made of double-face wool, the piece featured an oversized collar and lapels, princess seaming, on-seam pockets, and a concealed front closure.

The Duchess then traveled to a second engagement at the Cape Hill Children’s Centre. 

The center is part of Action for Children, an organization providing support for the “…most vulnerable and neglected children and young people throughout the UK…”.  The Duchess is the charity’s royal patron.

Kate took part in a play session with the children.

Her dress was a repeat, the Florrie style ($179, now sold out) by Seraphine Maternity.  Made of rayon crepe de chine, design elements included a curved empire waistline, short sleeves, and full skirt.

Kate wore her ‘Georgia’ pumps by Jimmy Choo.

And carried her ‘Frome’ clutch by LK Bennett. 

She also had on her sapphire and diamond drop earrings.
