It’s Alessandra Rich for Wimbledon & The Duchess Shoots a Magazine Cover

The Duchess brought back an Alessandra Rich dress for today’s Wimbledon action.

Here is a quick video of the couple as they arrived.

Below, the Duke and Duchess were greeted by Ian Hewitt, Chairman of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, and Jenifer Hewitt.

The Duchess blew her parents a kiss shortly after she was seated.

The Royal Box, located on Centre Court at the legendary SW19 sports venue, has 74 seats reserved for the royal family and invited guests of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC).

The royals were joined by HRH the Duchess of Gloucester and Dr Tristram Hunt, director at the Victoria & Albert Museum.

Additionally, the comedian and writer David Walliams was pictured in the Royal Box alongside broadcaster David Dimbleby. 

The English lyricist Tim Rice, who is best known for his collaborations with Andrew Lloyd Webber, was also present in the royal box on Tuesday.

Below, the Duchess greets David Walliams, OBE. Mr. Walliams is a patron of SkillForce; Prince William is that organization’s royal patron.

As many readers will recall, the Duchess is patron of the All England Club.

The royals were at Centre Court to watch the Gentlemen’s Singles quarter-final match between Novak Djokovic (Serbia)…

… and Jannik Sinner (Italy).

They appeared to enjoy the match. 

Ultimately, Mr. Djokovic was victorious.

That is a sensational win for Djokovic, very much like many other sensational wins he’s delivered before. Sinner was superb for two sets and it looked like we were witnessing an epochal shift, but of course we weren’t because Djokovic is, well, Djokovic. Without finding his best form he somehow found himself, doing enough to win his 26th Wimbledon match in a row and meets Norrie or Goffin in the last four.

As described in coverage on the Wimbledon site, the defending champ had been given “an almighty scare.”   

The royals then moved to No. 1 Court.

They watched the last three sets of the match between the gentlemen mentioned above by The Guardian, the UK’s Cameron Norrie, and Belgium’s David Goffin. In this photo, you see former British players Deb Jevans, CBE (on Kate’s right), Tim Henman, OBE (on William’s left), as well as the Duchess of Gloucester (in front of William).

Fans enjoying the atmosphere rode the outcome of every point, and particularly the left-hander’s comeback, with as much passion as those positioned on the edge of their seats inside the arena.

Wimbledon points out, “During the 1990s, it was widely known as ‘Henman Hill’, as British fans gathered to watch the British No.1 compete in four Wimbledon Semi-finals. It has since also been dubbed ‘Murray Mound’, reflecting the support for Andy Murray at Wimbledon.”

Riding a wonderful wave of support from an adoring crowd, home favourite Cameron Norrie has produced the performance of a lifetime to reach the semi-finals of Wimbledon.

With the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in attendance on No.1 Court, Norrie delivered a remarkable comeback to defeat gallant Belgian David Goffin 3-6, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5.

We learn more from Wimbledon’s story about the match. 

As he made his way triumphantly to an on-court interview, the passionate supporters chanted his name in unison around one of the world’s most prestigious stadium courts. “Norrie. Norrie. Norrie. Norrie. Norrie. Norrie,” they sang.

Overwhelmed by the experience, Norrie was initially rendered speechless in the post-match interview.

Twice he took time to compose himself before explaining his delight at producing a performance of such magnitude in front of his family and friends and thousands of supporters, including members of the Royal Family.

Sky Sports notes that Mr. Norrie “joins Andy Murray, Tim Henman, and Roger Taylor as the only British men to reach the semi-finals in men’s singles at the All England Club in the Open Era.” Below, a Kensington Palace social media post following the match. The Norrie vs. Djokovic match is Friday at 1:30 pm local time, 8:30 am EDT. 

Now for our look at what Kate wore. 

She was in a modified version of the azure blue Alessandra Rich Pleated Embellished Silk Crepe de Chine Dress first seen in photos from the Big Jubilee Lunch in early June. 

Crafted in silk crepe de chine, the midi-length design features pleating, gathered sleeves with button cuffs, shoulder pads, a keyhole back, hidden side zipper, and a self-belt with crystal embellishments. The dress worn by the Duchess has fabric-covered shoulder buttons instead of crystals, and her belt does not have crystals on the buckle. I think the extended keyhole back has been eliminated.  

We saw the return of the Amberley Crossbody bag by Mulberry (no longer available).

The Duchess debuted a new pair of Alessandra Rich Fab Two-Tone pumps ($745). (Apologies for the lack of a photo; none are available that I can license.)

The slingback style features “piercing pointed toes” in black patent leather that contrasts with the white body of the shoes, an elasticized back strap, and 4.5″ heels. The Duchess wore this style in tan and black to the mid-June memorial service marking the 5th anniversary of the Grenfall Towers Fire. 

She repeated her In2Design Baroque Pearl Earrings ($156).

And brought back the Finlay Henrietta Light Tortoise sunglasses ($225).

She also wore her green and purple Wimbledon members’ pin.

I imagine we will see the Duchess at Wimbledon again, most likely at the Women’s and/or Men’s finals.

Also today, word that the Duchess has photographed another royal family member for an official birthday photo. This time, the image isn’t one of the Cambridge children but, instead, the Duchess of Cornwall.

The Duchess of Cornwall has guest-edited Country Life’s July 13 issue to mark her 75th birthday and the magazine’s 125th anniversary. More from the magazine’s story:

A consummate professional, The Duchess of Cambridge (shown here in a behind-the scenes picture taken by The Duchess of Cornwall’s country dresser, Shona Williams) talked through the shoot with Paula ahead of her assignment at Raymill, The Duchess of Cornwall’s private home in Wiltshire.

‘The Duchess of Cambridge took her commission very seriously and was incredibly professional about the task at hand,’ says Paula.

‘She phoned me to discuss our requirements for the cover and subsequently composed a range of beautifully shot images.’

The photograph reflects the genuine joy that spending time in the country brings to The Duchess of Cornwall, to the delight of ‘We are thrilled to have our Guest Editor captured so magnificently by royal photographer The Duchess of Cambridge.

Country Life Editor Mark Hedges also noted, “We understand this is the first time a formal portrait of The Duchess of Cornwall has been taken by The Duchess of Cambridge for a magazine and we are honoured to have been chosen to be the first to publish this beautiful image. The photographs are superb and we would be delighted to offer The Duchess of Cambridge another commission!” (If interested in purchasing a single-issue copy of the magazine, this site offers that option. I believe the price is $12.50.) 

In the photo of the Duchess of Cambridge photographing the Duchess of Cornwall, she wears the Wool Cargo Pocket Blazer ($1530) by Chloé which was first seen at a June 2021 visit to the Natural History Museum. 

You can also make out the Veja Bicolor Low-top Esplar Sneakers ($130) also worn on that engagement (shown here as worn on the 2021 engagement). The style is also still stocked at Nordstrom, as well as Zappos ($140), and at Neiman Marcus.

It’s possible (probable?) that the Duchess wore the same & Other Stories Favorite Cut Jeans also seen at the History Museum engagement, but it’s not possible to definitively say that is the case.
