The Princess in Casual Styles for SportsAid Workshop

The Princess in Casual Styles for SportsAid Workshop

The Princess of Wales was in casual pieces for a SportsAid mental fitness workshop she attended with Prince William today.

The Princess has been SportsAid’s royal patron since 2013. Today’s event was at the Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre west of London. Here is a quick video as the couple arrived.

Today is the third and final day of engagements tied to World Mental Health Day.

On Tuesday, the royals hosted a mental health forum with young people.

Yesterday, the Princess visited Nottingham Trent University to learn about mental health support for students.

More on today’s engagement from The Daily Mail’s coverage

As the visit got underway Kate and William sat down with parents of young athletes who are supported by SportsAid – and as a passionate advocate for young people, the Princess of Wales appeared eager to learn about the children.

The couple are teaming up with SportsAid ambassadors including Paralympic gold medallist Ellie Simmonds and Commonwealth gold medallist Ama Agbeze.

In the photo below, I believe you see British hockey player Shona McCallin, an Olympic Gold Medalist, on the Princess’s right.

In this video from Richard Palmer of The Express, the Princess discusses praising youngsters.

A news release notes today’s visit comes on the heels of an Athlete Mental Health Survey conducted by SportsAid with input from Believe Perform.

Results from the survey found that 42% of young athletes said they ‘occasionally’ feel anxious in their day-to-day life with 20% saying they ‘often’ or ‘always’ feel anxious and 40% of all athletes have ‘little’, ‘none’ or are ‘not sure’ of how much access they have to mental health services or support1 .”

The Prince and Princess participated in two practical sessions focused on building mental resilience.

In the first exercise, they tried to shoot baskets under various forms of added pressure, such as performing against the clock or with crowd noise.

The royals also played goalball, a Paralympic sport for visually impaired athletes.

More from The Daily Mail’s story

On a course set up like a small pitch, with a goal either end, the Princess was blindfolded while carrying what looked like a heavy blue ball.

She then threw it underarm towards the goal ahead of her, where a blindfolded goalkeeper was tasked with saving it.

However, Kate’s ball went straight into the left side of the goal, leading the sports hall to cheer at her victory.

Eleanor Burleigh shared a video of the Princess’s throw.

A happy smile after her accomplishment.

Kensington Palace posted the following message on social media after the engagement.

Now for our look at what Kate wore.

She brought back Zara’s Tailored Double-Breasted Blazer ($89.90, no longer available) in cobalt blue. Made in a poly/viscose/elastane blend, it features peaked lapels, two flap pockets, and a jetted (welt) pocket at the chest. It also showcases gold-tone crested metal buttons on the front and at the cuffs.

A closer look at the details.

The jacket was first seen in a May 2021 video call the Duchess had with a community nurse midwife.

It was worn again in May 2021 for the first day of engagements during a Scotland tour.

Beneath the jacket, the Princess wore her Lauren Ralph Lauren ‘Nadalia’ top, a cotton/nylon ribbed knit with a squared neckline and puffed sleeves.

It is a piece she often pairs with casual ensembles. Below, you see the top worn with Marks & Spencer trousers in September 2020 and beneath a Chloé jacket in June 2021

Today’s jeans appear to be the MOTHER Dazzler Mid-Rise Straight-Leg style ($240), with thanks to Caroline P. Parr for the ID and Middleton Maven for sharing the info. The official color name is “Now or Never.”

They are made in a viscose/cotton/Lyocell blend with a touch of elastane and polyester described as “Mid-weight, stretchy fabric.” The jeans are available at Revolve ($228), Nordstrom ($228), Shopbop ($228), and Net-a-Porter ($240),

The Princess brought back her Veja Esplar Sneakers ($150).

The style is available at Zappos ($140), Net-a-Porter ($150), Neiman Marcus ($150), Bergdorf Goodman($150), and Matches ($150).

The Princess wore her hair down today.

But we could still see her Issy Star Earrings ($33), the pair Sarah Renton gave to the Princess as a gift. They were created in memory of Sarah’s daughter, Issy, who took her life earlier this year. They are being sold at Earsass as a fundraiser for mental health charity Brave Mind.

As you might imagine, there has been tremendous interest in the earrings after they were worn for the first time by the Princess on Tuesday. The 18-karat gold-plated earrings are available for preordering at Earsass, with a 4-6 week window expected for delivery.

No offense intended. I respect Kate and her efforts with the charities she supports. That being said, Kate’s hair is looking dry and unhealthy. Too long. She needs a good 6 inches off. When you compare her engagement announcement glossy darker hair, you can really see the difference.

I wonder if the blue and white combination is a subtle way of expressing support for Israel? Regardless, it is a lovely color on her.

It looks like goalball is a little bit of a mix between soccer (for hands) and bowling a little bit (as I read up on it.) This is actually the first time I've heard of it, but it's been around since 1946, as a way to rehabilitate WWII soldiers who were left visually impaired. It's actually really interesting to read about, so I want to thank POWs and for WKW for reporting on it.

I wondered about these jeans and had a look back at Susan’s post from March (Mothering Sunday) referencing ‘old and new’ family pictures: they look very much like the ones in the Matt Porteus photos used in the 2022 Christmas card and Catherine and the three children in the tree.

Could be wrong, of course. I don’t think they were identified at the time?

What a fabulous outfit for a relaxed and fun event. The jeans are so stylish and fit so well. Anything bigger would have looked ridiculous. The plain top and the lovely bright blazer just puts that little zing into a casual outfit.

Blazer can be removed to engage in the sporty aspect but quickly slipped back on to create the style and elegance of a casual outfit. The white sneakers whilst extremely practical are very fashionable at present and most likely super comfy.
