The Princess Wears Roland Mouret for First Early Childhood Workforce Summit

The Princess Wears Roland Mouret for First Early Childhood Workforce Summit

The Princess of Wales chose a Roland Mouret suit for the first Future Workforce Summit in London.

The summit is an initiative organised by The Royal Foundation Business Taskforce for Early Childhood. Below, the Princess and Christian Guy (center), executive director of the Centre for Early Childhood, and Sir Ron Kalifa (right), a Royal Foundation Trustee.

Emily Ferguson of The Daily Express shared a quick video of the Princess as she arrived.

Below, the Princess as organizers and participants greeted her.

In this image, you see Sir Gareth Southgate, former manager of England’s football team.

He addressed those attending the event. We learn more from The Telegraph’s story by Victoria Ward

Sir Gareth said he was “very fortunate” to have grown up in an environment built on trust and love, where he could fail and get things wrong.

But he discovered when working with footballers who did not have such a secure family background that it was “much harder” to build trust with them.

“With my players, I wanted to create an environment where they could fail,” he said. “We would reflect and review why, but they felt supported.

Sir Gareth is a supporter of the Royal Foundation’s Heads Together campaign and has previously spoken of the need to generate open and honest conversation about mental health and wellbeing.

More from the BBC’s coverage

At an event in the City of London, Catherine called on 80 top business leaders to play their part in ensuring employees can have healthy family lives, including caring responsibilities.

The event was part of Catherine’s campaign to raise awareness about the importance of children’s early years and building healthy family relationships.

This was Catherine’s first speech since November 2023 and the first since her cancer diagnosis, which was revealed in March 2024.

Here is a portion of the Princess’s remarks.

Love is the first and most essential bond. But it is also the invisible thread, woven with time, attention and tenderness, through consistent, nurturing relationships which creates the grounded and meaningful environments around a child.

It is this texture, the weave of love, which forms a child’s emotional world and becomes the foundation, the very fabric of resilience and belonging.

The home should be the space where love, safety and rhythm enable a child to thrive.

More from The Daily Mail’s story by Rebecca English

Her decision to address the large gathering of around 80 of the UK’s most influential business leaders today was said to underline the importance she places on her work on early childhood, the description given to the formative developmental age between birth and five.

Catherine unexpectedly stayed on several hours later than planned. A source said she ‘feels passionately about the work the Business Taskforce is doing to place early childhood at the heart of the business community’. ‘She stayed on this afternoon to hear more about how current taskforce members are inspiring some of the biggest businesses in the UK to make change too,’ they added.

She had originally planned to leave after the morning session but opted to stay for the rest of the summit to hear how taskforce members were inspiring change.

Among those she met were rapper Professor Green, who was raised by his grandmother and collaborated with the Princess on her Shaping Us campaign, launched in 2023 to highlight the crucial first five years of a child’s life.

UPDATE NOV 19: Here is a video from Kensington Palace about the engagement. (I wasn’t able to post this Tuesday because of the issues with Twitter.)

Now, for our look at what Kate wore for today’s summit.

The Princess wore what appears to be another Roland Mouret suit, very similar to the Single-Breasted Stretch Cady Blazer and wide-leg Stretch-Cady Trouser she has worn in other colors. As noted previously, the jacket features a single-breasted silhouette, angled flap pockets, peaked lapels, and a self-covered button. The trousers showcase a wide-leg silhouette and vertical pockets. Thank you to Middleton Maven for identifying these pieces. Here you see the off-the-rack versions of the separates, no longer available for purchase.

The Princess now owns the styles in three colorways: the maroon, first worn in Boston in 2022; the sand color, worn in September 2023; and today’s light grey.

Underneath the jacket, the Princess wore her Cascade Ruffle Blouse ($595) in 100% sandwashed silk satin by Knatchbull. The blouse was first worn in May with a Victoria Beckham suit at the British Fashion Council awards, and seen again at a September rugby match

The Princess accessorized with her Smythson East West Tote Bag ($850). The tote measures roughly 14″ x 11″ x 6″ and has an internal slip pocket as well as an external pocket.

We saw the return of the Russell and Bromley 100 Point Blade Heel Court Leather Shoe (£245, no longer available).

The Princess wore her Empress Earrings (£3750, roughly $4900 at today’s exchange rates) in 18K white gold and diamonds by Mappin and Webb.

Also today, for those who may not have seen the Princess’s “Autumn” video, here is that clip, the third in her seasonal videos looking at the seasons and nature.

In the video, it looks like the Princess wears her Barbour Defence Jacket, chocolate brown jeans, and her See by Chloé Liege boots.

I will see you tomorrow when the Prince and Princess attend the Royal Variety Performance. Here is a refresher on her past looks at the event.

For 2014’s performance, the Princess opted for the ‘Zarita’ lace evening gown by Diane von Furstenberg; at the 2017 performance, we saw an icy blue Jenny Packham gown with illusion tulle covered in sequins and crystals; in 2019, the Duchess chose a black lace Alexander McQueen design; in 2021, the Princess brought back a Jenny Packham gown first worn in Pakistan; and in 2023, she wore Safiyaa’s ‘Destiny’ gown in a color called Posedon Blue.

Here is the entire speech by the Princess, about three minutes long.

I love Kate no matter what she wears, but I would love to see some imagination and new styles incorporated into her wardrobe.

With few notable exceptions, Catherine always looks lovely—-always a cut above the room she’s in. Individually, all the suits are lovely and I can’t even think of quibbling about this lapel, or that wrinkle, or length of zipper. just bemoan the fact that I have lost the ability to be inspired by this site. I used to excitedly come each day, and I’ve bravely tried new outfits that I wouldn’t have thought of before, given confidence by what I saw. I hope we see a return to more variety soon!

The first impression, for me, is how happy, breezy and confident Catherine is, in the photo of the her getting out of a car. Her glow and her smile are cheery to see!

I also like the artistic look of that photo. There's something poetic about the way she is in a turn, with her hair in a flow of silk down her shoulders, and her jacket in interesting folds and curves, from Catherine's energy. So refreshing! It truly looks like a breath of fresh air has heraled the Princess of Wales' arrival!

Rhe trousers fit Catherine very well. They aren't perfect, if, by "perfect" one means, or demands, absolutely no wrinkles. They also aren't "perfect," if perfection is defined by some notion that trousers must always be tight, snug or fitted. Nothing wrong with trousers like that, but Catherine's are looser and freer, and yet still quite professional looking.

Her entire vibe, for me, of soft professionalism, with stark minimalism being set aside in favor of pretty ruffles, set against a very elegant suit that is not restrictive or stern, but simply just perfect exactly as it is. There's a relaxed quality that still seems corporate friendly, as well.

Her blouse is one of my favorites! It is just so Fun, to me, in the daring way it allows for ruffles in the boardroom. I'm so happy that Catherine wears this blouse rather frequently. It gives her an approachable vibe, which, I think she naturally wants. And, so Romantic, are ruffles, even the more subdued ones of Catherine's blouse, because, even if you subdue a ruffle, it still is a ruffle, and, thus, feminine to the core!

As to the pearl gray color of the suit (which, delightfully, for me, also looks like pale blue, in some of the photos), these delicate colors may seem more of spring, than of "winter-soon- approaching" weather, but I think that such colors work well for either season. They make me think of chilly, yet inspiring days, where one takes a walk and sees a sky of dove gray and icy blue, that has a more introverted kind of gorgeousness than the bright summer skies that can sear with intense heat. (Winter, while not my favorite season, does have its charms).

Catherine's dark blue, or black, bag and shoes, impart a kind of comaprison, for me, of seeing bare, dark tree branches against a frosty sky.

The darkness of branches against a white, gray and pale blue wintery sky is, itself, a poem from Nature - and that is what her colors of this ensemble, make me think of, a kind of Winter Haiku.

There's a simplicity to winter. One doesn't Have to work so hard to give the impression of having a good time. It's much more a time of reflection and staying inside (except on the days when one feels the lure of the fresh cold waking up dulled senses).

So, I have taken a bit of a poetic flight of fancy to use a lot of wintry descriptions, to say that Yes! I think these colors are Excellent for colder months, as they are peaceful yet striking. The dark bag and shoes gives a very pleasing impact to the outfit. (While I'm Enthusiastically for bright colors, I'm also very partial to quiet and soothing colors, especially when they are given some exciting contrast with dark colors).

The bag looks quite chic, as do Catherine's very sleek, business like block heel pumps.

The earrings, I'm sure, must glitter so much, when seen up close, and snowy days can glitter, too, when the winter sun falls upon branches encased in ice.

How Gorgeous the Princess of Wales looks! It's not just her physical beauty, because one can see, in her eyes and smile, what a warm and caring person she truly is.

We are So Lucky to have her! I hope and pray she continues to recover, and does not push herself too much.

I've watched her lovely Autumn video. What a Remarkably expressive voice Catherine has! I haven't listened to her speech yet, but soon will!

I LOVE This Entire Outfit - And - Catherine's hair, too. It is luxuriously long, and I don't care how old she is, (which, I think she's now in her early 40s, so, not very "old" at all), but age Doesn't really matter. Her hair length is fine on her, and, in a subtle and gentle way, kind of sets her apart, as it is very much like what many want a Princess to have: long, beautiful tendrils of waves and curls. In the breezes, her long hair is very expressive and makes me think of the phrase: "poetry in motion."

Of the 3 versions of the Roland Mouret suit, shown, I love the maroon one and the icy blue/pearl gray one the best (and it just so happens that Catherine is wearing ruffled blouses with both).

The beige one is dull, for me, albeit, the Princess still looks great in it. I would do something "crazy" with it by paring it with a blouse of bright, hot pink. (That tepid hued suit really needs Something dynamic to bring it to life)!

I'm so Looking Forward to what she will wear to the Royal Variety Performance!!!!

My Favorites, of the beautiful past gowns Catherine has worn, that the Admin posted photos of,, are:

I like the outfit, the colour is nice and I like how the ruffle blouse softens the look. I’m not sure about the fit of the trousers, even acknowledging that “too wide, too long” is the current fashion, they still look two sizes too big to me.
