Kate’s Pictures of Prince George & Princess Charlotte

We are back with a post long on imagery and short on verbiage.  The imagery, of course, the new photos of Prince George and his sister, Princess Charlotte.

While the blog is What Kate Wore, there is substantial interest in the young Cambridges, so we offer this brief look at the pictures.

They are awfully cute.  The Duchess took the photos in mid-May, not long after Charlotte was born. More via this story by Emily Nash in The Sun, the piece quotes Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine.

“Kate wants to keep things as private as she can … she learned portraiture from photographer Alistair Morrison and took pictures for her parents’ online business Party Pieces.”

“She even wrote her university dissertation on the photography of Lewis Carroll.”

The Sun story notes the Duchess used a Canon EOS 5D Mark II camera. The camera isn’t being made anymore, but apparently it  is available via secondhand sources.

We have previously seen almost all of the pieces worn by both children. Many readers will recognize George’s outfit as what he wore when meeting his new sister at St. Mary’s Hospital. His shirt and shorts are by Rachel Riley, the sweater and knee socks are from Amaia Kids and the shoes are Start-Rite’s ‘Jo first walking shoes.’

And Princess Charlotte’s items have been shared before, we just haven’t seen the newborn actually wearing them.

Some might recall the pieces are from Spanish boutique Irulea, purchased as a gift by Nanny Maria Borrallo’s mother. Above we share the bonnet, booties, sweater & ‘chemise’ that made up the gift. My guess on the bottoms: something like these by Irulea, in a lighter weight and the same ivory color as the hat, booties and sweater.

As we were chatting in our previous post about broderie anglaise, it seems appropriate to share a few pieces from Irulea showcasing that material.

And they also have lovely lace, as shown below right.

We leave you with one final photo from Kate.

I was wondering who would take the photos of Charlotte. I'm glad that Kate took these herself. It shows how down to earth and private she is. She's bringing some normalcy into the monarchy and that's nice to see.

Also, she's a really good photographer! These photos are lovely!

Is it possible that Charlotte has blue eyes? They look dark blue to me. George clearly has brown or possibly hazel eyes.

These are beautiful children. As all children are!

With the caveat that I know next to nothing about infants, aren't most babies born with blue eyes? My impression has been that you have to wait some time (weeks? months? no clue) before the permanent eye color emerges.
