Happy Friday to all, hopefully everyone is able to enjoy the upcoming weekend. We have several Bits and Bytes to share, beginning with probable dates for the Canada Tour via Emily Andrews of The Sun. Here are several of Emily’s tweets this evening (Friday night).
These dates sync with the information previously reported about the Trudeau and Cambridge families spending September 28th together in Whitehorse. As always, a cautionary note that this is yet to be confirmed by Kensington Palace, something Emily noted on Twitter. We also have multiple updates to Kate’s Calendar, all of them part of a 2-day trip the Duke and Duchess will make to Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, a mini Cornish tour. The trip is Thursday and Friday, September 1st and 2nd. For anyone not familiar with the area (your faithful scribe actually needed a quick refresher), here is a map.
A number of engagements will take the couple to Duchy of Cornwall initiatives. More about the Duchy from a Palace news release.
The Duchy, a private estate established in 1337, funds the public, charitable and private activities of the Prince of Wales, also known as The Duke of Cornwall, and his family. It comprises arable and livestock farms, residential and commercial properties, as well as forests, rivers, quarries, and coastline across primarily the South West of England.
More from Hello! magazine:
William’s father Prince Charles became the 24th Duke of Cornwall on the Queen’s accession to the throne, and the Duchy of Cornwall is one of two royal duchies in England. It extends across 23 counties in England and Wales, supporting various projects.
Trip highlights include a stop at Truro Cathedral, built in the 1880s.
On the second day of their visit the Duke and Duchess visit the Isles of Scilly, an archipelago off Cornwall’s southwestern tip. There are 5 inhabited islands, and the population is just around 2000.
Sure to be visual, a visit to the Tresco Abbey Garden, 17 acres of subtropical flora that looks simply gorgeous. In addition to the stunning floral displays, the remains of a Benedictine Abbey founded in 964 AD are inside the Garden property. Kate and William will see more flowers when they spend time at Churchill Flowers Farm, known for its scented bouquets and arrangements that are shipped throughout the UK year-round.

Also today, a quick note about Daniella Helayel, founder of the Issa London label. Ms. Helayel has returned to the fashion world, designing a capsule collection for Monsoon. No one will be surprised to see a repliKate for the iconic Issa engagement dress worn by Kate; this is the Gisele in navy ($175), available in very limited sizing.
Other pieces in the collection include (l to r) the Izabel dress in a berry print ($175); the Gisele in pink ($175); the Gabriella in Pink ($175).
It sounds like more designs will be forthcoming, a Monsoon blog post references this as Ms. Helayel’s “first exclusive collection for Monsoon.”

Our final topic today covers the accessories collection from Jane Taylor. We’re used to seeing the Duchess and other royals in hats by the renowned milliner.
But I didn’t realize Ms. Taylor launched a collection of handbags and gloves last spring. Below, some of this spring’s summery shades in the Perforated Glove style.
Below (l to r): a pair of Swarovski Studded gloves in black (£225); in the center, a pair of the Long Navy Tulle style (£225); on the right we show a Perforated Pair in mint (£165).
The handbags are all clutch designs.
One of the handbags as shared on Instagram with a pair of matching gloves.
Two leather styles, black on the left and a soft, dove grey on the right.
At the first day of Royal Ascot last year Sophie, Countess of Wessex, carried one of the new handbags.
The Countess accessorized her Emilia Wickstead dress with a new hat and new bag by Ms. Taylor. The clutch has an embossed crocodile pattern, sans the fringe seen lower right.
If interested in all of the details on Sophie’s ensemble, this link takes you to the HRH Countess of Wessex blog. We’ll see you next week! NOTE: A favor from the corner condo here on Planet Kate: we have been getting some reports that political ads are running on the site. There isn’t supposed to be any advertising with political content on the site, but apparently, some ads have slipped by; I am told this is the result of coding errors. If you do see one, sending a quick note with a screen grab and URL would be more than appreciated. (Susan@WhatKateWore.com) Thank you!

I think the map is a little off - the arrow is pointing to the Isles of Scilly, a part of the Duchy of Cornwall, but the vast majority is part of mainland England, isn't it?

Yes, it really was off, I updated it with another arrow aimed at the mainland. Thanks much for commenting, otherwise I would not have noticed the discrepancy. :)

Ooh! I live in Cornwall, quite close to Truro... I'm very tempted to stake out the Cathedral to try to get a real live DOC-sighting!

It looks absolutely gorgeous there, simply beautiful. After reading about it for the post now I want to add a few days there to the itinerary for our next trip over. :)

Delighted to hear the Canada trip is taking shape and am looking forward to the Scilly Isles mini-tour. I can’t felt the latter would be a far more logical place to take two tinies, much more bucket-and-spade than international diplomacy, but there we are. Both are very scenic.
Not wholly convinced by the Monsoon take on the engagement dress, it looks to have rather more lumpy gathers at the front. Certainly the way Kate wore the original it was very neat and slinky. Helayel has some pretty summer prints there though.
The perforated Jane Taylor gloves look a bit comical, more like a take on driving gloves. Interesting, and a line to watch out for. I’m a sucker for leather gloves. The clutch is elegant but looks so big on Sophie it seems closer to a full-scale working handbag than a handy clutch. And I can definitely live without tassels getting in my way everywhere.
Many thanks for the post!!

Hi, I tried on the navy blue monsoon dress and unless you are really tall in the upperbody the dress is cut way to low and the sholders sag. The fabric is also not very nice :-( but a shame as it is a lovely design
