UPDATED: Kate In *New* Alexander McQueen for Harry & Meghan’s Wedding

UPDATE MONDAY, MAY 21: After looking at the official wedding photos released today it is clear Kate was in a new Alexander McQueen garment. I am doing a new post and will come back and add a link to the new post. Here is a link to the updated post.

Kate was in an old favorite for today’s wedding in Windsor.

It looked like a glorious day, filled with sunshine but not too hot.

There was a substantial number of royal family members to see Prince Harry marry Meghan Markle at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor. Below you see Prince Edward, Sophie Wessex and Lady Louise. Sophie wore an ensemble by Suzannah with a Jane Taylor hat.

Princess Anne and husband Sir Tim Laurence.

Princess Anne’s daughter Zara Tindall, with husband Mike. The couple is expecting their second child this summer.

Below, Princess Eugenie wearing a Gainsbourg dress, Fiona Graham hat and Valentino heels; Prince Andrew in the center; on the right, Princess Beatrice in a Roksanda hand-dyed silk organza dress, accessorized with a Stephen Jones hat and Gianvito Rossi heels.

Of course, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended with George and Charlotte, both of whom were attendants in the service.

Kate’s mother, father and brother James were also at the wedding. Pippa Middleton Matthews and husband James Matthews were also in attendance.

There was no shortage of celebrities. Below, Amal and George Clooney chatting with Serena Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian.

Entertainers James Blunt and Elton John.

Harry and William arrived around 11:40 AM.

The Queen was the last royal to arrive. She wore a lime green ensemble by Stuart Parvin with a hat by Angela Kelly. On her lapel you see the Richmond Diamond Brooch with pearl drop. Below, you see her seated inside the Chapel with Prince Philip and Prince Edward.

Prince William leans across Camilla to speak with Kate.

Meghan and her mother, Doria Ragland, drove from their hotel to Windsor Castle. At that point Ms. Ragland went on to the Chapel alone while two of the page boys, Brian and John Mulroney, joined Meghan in her vehicle.

Kate helped corral the other two page boys and some of the bridesmaids.

When they arrived at the chapel they were shepherded inside.

It looked like Nanny Maria Borrallo may have helped out one of the bridesmaids.

The Mulroney boys were on standby to help with the train. You can see the 16-foot train required special handling.

Another view.

Meghan walked about half of the aisle by herself and then met Prince Charles who proceeded the rest of the way with her.

The service lasted about 45 minutes. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

After the service, it was time for a carriage ride.

A wave from family and friends.

Another view.

Another look at Kate’s ensemble.

UPDATE After looking at the official wedding photos it is clear Kate was in a new Alexander McQueen garment. I am doing a new post and will come back and add a link to the new post. Here is a link to the updated post.

It looks like the Duchess brought back the Alexander McQueen first seen at Charlotte’s christening in July 2015.  If it *is* the same outfit, this would be the fourth time it has been worn: initially at Charlotte’s 2015 christening; at Trooping the Colour in June 2016; again last July for Passchendaele centenary events in Belgium; and today’s wedding.

The news release indicated the Duchess would be wearing “…a primrose yellow wool silk tailored coat by Alexander McQueen.” The shade or color of Kate’s garment looked different in different lighting today, but it doesn’t strike me as a primrose yellow.

Kate’s hat is by Philip Treacy. When first seeing the piece some thought it was the potato chip hat the ‘Launceston’ style by Gina Foster Millinery worn to the Zara Phillips/Mike Tindall wedding. A closer look shows this is not the case.

There was a suggestion via Twitter that the style on the left is most like Kate’s hat.

Kate’s shoes are by Jimmy Choo; they look like the brand’s Romy style in nude patent. The shoe features a point toe and 4″ heel; it is available at My Theresa ($675) and also at Saks. One not on the Saks shoes, they appear to have a bit of a metallic sheen that Kate’s pair doesn’t have. It was hard to tell online, but worth mentioning.

Kate’s earrings look like they are another Kiki McDonough style, probably the Lemon Quartz Drop Earrings ($

Kate also had on a new ring. I will look for info on it and update the post Sunday.

UPDATE: Kate’s ring appears to be a piece she has had since at least 2008. She is seen wearing it in January 2008 when out celebrating her birthday with sister Pippa Middleton in the photo on the far left and left; you see closeups of the ring as seen yesterday; on the far right, Kate looks like she is wearing the ring in July 2008 for the wedding of Lady Rose Windsor and George Gilman at The Queen’s Chapel, St. James’s Palace.

Multiple Tips of the Tiara today for always wonderful Charlotte of the HRH Duchess Kate blog, she pointed out the January 2008 information. Thanks also to Lorena for her comment on this post, she shared links to images of Kate wearing the ring at the Windsor/Gilman wedding!

We’ll leave you with this darling photo of Princess Charlotte.

NOTE: Many thanks for the comments pointing out little corrections I needed to make. That is *very* helpful when doing so many posts!

I’ve already left a reply on my thoughts as to whether it’s the same dress or not and I’m still convinced it is the same dress she’s worn before. However, this is about the shoes! The store picture of the shoes does show a shine or gleam to the shoe! The picture of Kate’s shoes, at first glance, looks like her shoes do not have the gleam look. But if you look closer, her right foot which is more shaded does show a bit of a gleam to the shoe! In any case, I thought she looked really pretty and classy as usual!

I thought Kate looked beautiful and appropriate, as usual. It didn’t strike me as strange that she might recycle a coat at this time. It DOES strike me as strange that no one has mentioned she’s just a month post partum and, with the daily changing body that comes from having just had a baby, that might have affected her choice of clothes. Perhaps the planned yellow coat didn’t fit as planned and so she had to choose a rewear and this was the best choice that fit her current body and the color scheme. Perhaps it is a new coat or perhaps its a recycle that lent itself to easy tailoring to her pospartum body. It’s impossible to know the circumstances. I know we expect perfection from Kate since she has a trainer, chef, nanny, and other support staff, but even so there’s not much that can be done within the first 6 weeks after pregnancy and I think we should be giving her the benefit of the doubt at this time.

Honestly, I don't understand why people make such a big deal about the color of Kate's dress and whether it was a rewear or not. Kate looked pretty and I'm sure she gave much thought about what to wear for the occasion, making sure it is appropriate as she always does. Why do some people overthink this? I thought the color was perfect especially when you see the group photo - it seemed like they coordinated the color of the outfits. Secondly, I don't think Meghan is so self-centered that she would freak out if guests are wearing cream or white. Only insecure women will feel that way and I'm pretty sure Meghan isn't one.

I thought Kate looked lovely. Yes, the outfit was at least very similar to one worn previously but it was lovely and appropriate for the event. I’m sure Kate did not want to take any attention away from Meghan. The colour to me looked cream, perhaps a yellowy cream but not pale yellow, at least on my computer screen. It was an amazing wonderful day and I think it would be great if we all focused on the many beautiful moments of the day.
