Today we have a look at the new Cambridge family photo Kensington Palace released.
The picture was taken in the autumn at Anmer Hall, the family’s country home. It really is a terrific photo. Everyone looks relaxed and comfortable as Kate and William lean against a tree, while Charlotte and George stand on it, and the Duchess has Prince Louis in her arms. In an Instagram post, the photographer said, “It was an honour to be asked to photograph The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their family at Anmer Hall. Capturing the fun and relaxed moments between such a wonderful family was a true privilege.”
If you recognize the photographer’s name, it is probably because of the other family photos he has shot, including this classic christening picture of Kate and Prince Louis.
As well as Prince George’s third and fifth birthday photos.
There is definitely some repeating of pieces in the picture, including the cardigan sweater we see Charlotte wearing. It’s made multiple appearances in official photos.
Prince George looks like he is probably delighted to be in a pair of jeans.
I think perhaps the Duchess will have him wearing full-length trousers going forward and not the shorts he usually wears in formal settings. For details on what the children are wearing in the photo, pop over to What Kate’s Kids Wore for today’s post.
It was truly a cornucopia of Christmas card pictures today. Kensington Palace also released the picture the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are using for their cards, taken during their second wedding reception.
For details on this image visit our sister site, What Meghan Wore.
And to make it a trifecta, here is the Christmas card the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall are sending this year.
The Telegraph reports the Duchess is wearing “a cream and crepe dress by Fiona Clare in the image, the same outfit she wore for the Prince’s official 70th birthday pictures which featured the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.” Below, one of the 70th birthday photos.
Clarence House released the images this morning. Here is a closer look at the photo taken by Hugo Bernand.
Now to what Kate wore in the new photo, starting with her FJällräven sweater. The piece was first noted at an October engagement at a nature park.
It is the Fjällräven Övik Re-Wool Style style, so called because it is a blend of recycled wool and polyamide. It is a classic design with ribbed cuffs and collar, in a color called frost green. The sweater now appears to be sold out.
Beneath the sweater, the Duchess wore a gingham check shirt in what looks like a light blue and white check. Here is a better view of the collar.
The Duchess wore her Asprey earrings.
Here is a closer look at the Oak Leaf Earrings, part of the jeweler’s ‘Woodland’ collection.
We don’t know what brand of jeans Kate is wearing, and I would be surprised if we are able to discern who made them as there’s very little visible detail in the new picture.
We will see you next week!
Like many before me really love this photo. Such a natural photo of the Cambridges dosnt look artificial or starched very comfortable happy photo. Love the casual look on kate really fits with her mom roll but again has enough class for her station.. nailed it again kate !!
LOVE this photo! Each of the Cambridges unique personalities shine through.
Especially love Louis in this photo.
Thank you WWW for your excellent coverage over the years on Kate’s fashion and other details, keep up the fantastic work, we readers love it.
Thank you for reading, Dru! 😊
also thanks for your amazing fabulous work on wkw!
Aww, thank you, Sue! 🙂
Very, very sweet picture. They all look great, and the kids are just so stinking adorable! George is just about the handsomest little man there is, Charlotte looks like a total superstar, and Louis. Is. Killing. Me. With his little toothless mail-slot smile and those eyebrows! My youngest had–still has, at 11–a very strong eyebrow game as well, and this picture of Louis reminds me so much of her at that age, so naturally I adore him on a completely irrational level.
The Cambridges seem to have developed a tradition of autumnal outdoor family photos, dressed in casual outdoorsy clothes, and it seems to me a very nice tradition, and a nice image to use for a holiday card.
This is Kate, as I like her best. It’s the one that, after years as a royal and a marked increase in bespoke and high-end wardrobe choices, still puts a “repli-Kate” within reach. At any age and any shape, a woman can throw on a pair of well-fitted jeans, a cozy sweater in a flattering color & cut, a favorite pair of earrings and confidently flash a wide smile toward a camera. (Sure, it helps to have fabulous hair and a reliable make-up routine.)
While her role as a public figure commensurately requires her to invest time in making smart sartorial choices, the ease and felicity among her family shows that time to be kept in balance with the the more enduring investment in the well-being of her family. And that is a characteristic I want to “repli-Kate” as much as any outfit.
Beautifully written and so true! Her attitude is as admirable and worthy of attention and imitation as her wardrobe.
I thought a while before commenting on KM’s Christmas card image. There is so little to see of how terrific she looks in her sweater and jeans that initially I just glanced at the post. I have a few thoughts on the overall picture, which I would not usually have when the context isn’t really what KM is wearing and how she looks in it.
First, I read the blog because the author goes into depth as to what KM is wearing, whether she has worn it before and for what occasion, how it is accessorized and has been previously been accessorized, and we get lots of images of KM in whatever she is wearing in the post. Second, I am not actually interested too much in the BRF and their doings. I don’t know them, I don’t consider them to hold a special place in the scheme of things, and anything printed about them has to be mostly on the order of unverified gossip – not interesting to me.
Since I have been reading this excellent fashion blog, however, I have seen lots of pics with KM and her children. Just through the pictures, her kids look pretty happy and comfortable with their mother. I have to acknowledge that although I don’t really know anything about KM, she seems to be a successful mom. Good for her, something to really admire.
Happy and comfortable – your word choice really captures the warmth evident in this picture. And the affinity for each other is still evident, even during times the “littles” have been reserved, out-of-sorts or upset when cameras are around. The BRF is guarded about the personal lives, with good reason, and I agree with you — the glimpses we’ve seen do support our impression of Kate as a conscientious, caring mother.
I like the photo of the Cambridge’s, if you did not know they are from the royal family, it looks like an average family picture. I have read everyone’s comments on the outfits and looking at them closer the sweater Kate is wearing is a new one we have not seen, because if you look by her neckline it is a wide border and has blue specks in the design and the FJällräven sweater does not have either. If Baby Louis was wearing pant verses long shorts, this family picture you would think was a picture from a family in the U.S.A., we all know this is a English tradition. You are all right, Lupo the dog is missing for this causal family picture. We have a long wait to see Kate again until the holidays. So I am going to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!
I originally commented on his shirt on the Evelina post and said it did not seem very kingy( my typo for kingly 🙂 IMHO. I second the motion here as a personal preference but not quite as heartily due to the setting. Evelina was a royal engagement and so certain levels of decorum are to be expected of a king-to-be. (also he was the only one with his shirt that way and he did stand out a bit). This is a private family picture in total casual attire and so if this is more comfortable or more handsome in his mond, then thats his business. I personally prefer a more dignified look but that totally personal, not moralistic.
As an aside, i would like to add to the kaffuffle that sometimes we are so sensitive that we are insensitive. (I am a therapist and this topic has arisen many times recently)
Context is so important, isn’t it? I agree the outdoor, relaxed, personal setting here make the look less jarring.
On a fashion blog, supported by the glare of flashbulbs and split-second shutter speeds, minor things can make a difference in one’s opinion of an outfit. But it’s good to keep in mind that while discussing minor things can be interesting or instructive (as our admin puts it), those things are still minor.
Anecdotally, my grandfather wore the top button open on his dress shirts for as far back as I can remember, even at what we might consider formal events. He just hated – as strongly as possible – the feel of a closed collar. It became a part of who he was. Even now, years later, when I look at pictures of him, I don’t see his un-buttoned collar; I see his smiling, healthy face.
I believe Kate’s pale blue gingham shirt is GAP’s “The Fitted Boyfriend” shirt. She wore the navy gingham version in 2014 while touring a New Zealand vineyard.
Everyone looks great but I must comment on Charlotte, at her tender age, looking almost mysterious in her cardigan. Way to work the camera! And Louis….what a joyous face in this photo. Fashion blog that this is, I will say that whoever styled this (probably Kate) excelled in matching clothing to the personality of each family member so that your first reaction is “happy family” and not “royal family”.
This is a gorgeous photo of a beautiful, happy family. Probably one of my absolute favorite of the Cambridge’s.
I can’t find anything about it that I don’t like.
Little Louie is such a little man! He totally wins the eyebrow game. Charlotte is the only one where I see some William / Diana in her features. Especially making the particular expression that she is in this photo. George is such a handsome lad. Each of them uniquely their own person as the photographer captured.
As for William and his offensive open buttons, I imagine if Kate reads these comments, she’s looking over at William and saying, “Good, it’s your turn. I’m going back to wearing my coat indoors.”
You made me laugh out loud with “wearing my coat indoors”!
I think Prince Louis is really a 35 year old in an 8 month old body. That seems pretty apparent in this photo!
Gorgeous photograph, I love the sunlight coming through the fall leaves. That grin on baby Prince Luis! You can just imagine he’s going to be quite the character.
Long-time reader, first time commenter…
Are you sure about the sweater ID? In the Christmas card close-up, it looks like the neck is more of mock-style, or something with deeper ribbing, than the ID’d item.
As for the pants on George, I remember when my first-born was little I thought he looked so cute in older-kid style clothes and was in a rush to put him in little jeans. Now that he’s a teenager, I wish I had kept him in baby stuff longer! Short pants till age age may be too much even for me, but I imagine there are some bittersweet feelings seeing him in long pants.
Thanks for putting on such a great site. I really enjoy it.
When I look at this picture I see a young happy, well grounded family. With such a strong foundation they will have strong, happy children. I cannot imagine the amount of scrutiny they are under, but they are handling it with such dignity and humor. Beautiful picture, worthy of Christmas card. Kudos to photographer!
I love this photo! Perfect in every way. It looks to me like George’s jeans may have elastic below the knee with long socks.
I see the same. So no breaking with tradition – still a kind of shorts.
I’m not entirely convinced that George is wearing jeans. They look to me to be the kind of chino pants that are commonly worn with school uniforms. Of course, that doesn’t in any way take away from what a genuine family photo it is.
That’s exactly what I was thinking–those really don’t look like jeans. Glad I’m not the only one!
Definitely not the only one. I vote for chinos too, a pair that seem to have a tight bottom half of the leg. Maybe they’re meant to fit cleanly into boots.
This is a wonderful family portrait and a welcome bright spot amid dark December days — many congratulations to Matt Porteous. I really like Kate’s boring jumper, she’s a girl after my own heart in that department! However, having ordered the first Fjallraven jumper she wore I was disappointed at the weight of the wool, as, living in cooler climes, I value some good solid lambswool.
The lighter mix used here is of course better for fit and appearance, but in the matter of keeping warm — and for those of us not in the public eye –I tend to favour cosy over looks. And I find I can get pure lambswool at a third of this price from the trusty Woolovers, not a bastion of style for sure, but unquestionably solid value. There’s a cardigan of theirs awaiting me under the Christmas tree 😉
It’s so hard to tell the construction and quality of the garments, isn’t it? I am currently 7 months pregnant and ordered some items from Seraphine, figuring they would be high-quality if Kate wore them! Sadly, they are fairly cheap in construction, which wasn’t what I was expecting.
I found something similar with Zara when looking for a winter jacket. Given the hype around the name I was surprised as you say at poor construction. Having failed to find anything new that met requirements I ended up on eBay where I bagged a Jaeger cashmere 3/4 for a tenner!!! Three winter’s on and it’s still going strong 🙂
Oh ElizaMo, you are a gal after my own heart. As I age, I find myself drawn more and more to 100% wool items, to get me through the cold Canadian winters. I wear thin Merino wool undershirts and a thicker knit of Merino for socks. For sweaters, I agree with you, that pure lambswool is the way to go. Now comfort is far more important than glamour, as you say, cozy over looks. Stay warm this winter and Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas to you too Bonnie, lovely to hear from you. I’m fascinated to hear about your winter layers, I’m sure it’s far colder in Canada than dear old Inverness. I’m finding fabrics like pure wool or cotton harder & harder to track down and tend to stock up when I can. It has me wondering if a rising middle class in the likes of India or China means others would now like a share of fabrics we’ve been able to take for granted and demand is now more heavy. Often when I do find the pure fibres they are nothing like the weight they used to be. Woolovers is a treasure trove while they last.
Yes ElizaMo, winters in Canada may be colder, but I believe it is much damper in Inverness. So both contribute to a body feeling the chills. I’ll be sure to check out Woolovers.
Bonnie, I just purchased a sweater for my mother and it is outstanding. A really good piece at a reasonable price and fast shipping. 🙂
Thanks, Susan and ElizaMo, I’d never heard of Woolovers, glad to now be in the loop.
I’ve also never heard of them, and so glad to find them! Synthetic fabrics and I don’t get on well together, so this is a great tip!
What a wonderful photo! Everyone seems so happy and relaxed, and while the colors and clothes blend well together, all the personalities shine through too. Louis looks like a little old man with mischievousness behind that grin and eyebrows, Charlotte also looks like she is keeping some devilish secrets (and what a beauty she is becoming already), and it is nice to see George’s lighter side. It’s no small feat that this family seems ‘normal’, but it goes to show that basic values of love and happiness are what tie us all together no matter our level of privilege.
Wonderful photo. They all look happy and relaxed and little Louis is just beautiful. I think he looks a bit like Prince Oscar but someone else posted a photo of a smiling Michael Middleton and Louis looks EXACTLY like him. Babies change so much. No telling who he will end up looking like.
On another note . . . I have stopped reading the comments on here because they always annoy me and I just want to enjoy the photos; however, I accidently saw the comments about William’s shirt buttons. Just unbelievable what people will complain about.
I think he looks like Prince Oscar too! So … he’s Oscar Middleton I guess!
This is a very nice family photo. I feel like its a peek of the Cambridges at home, so relaxed. And the autumn setting is gorgeous, it must be really beautiful on the property that time of year..
I like the combo of gingham check with the green sweater. The soft colors pair together nicely. And I didnt even notice until I read the post that George was in jeans. I understand that the short pants are a royal ‘trend’ for some but I would worry about them being cold all the time. Anyway the children are all adorable. 😁
Merry Christmas everyone! 🎄
I find I also worry about cold knees every time the little ones are paraded in short pants! The full-length jeans on George look natural and right.
Fabulous photo of a lovely family!
My goodness Louie steals the show somehow — I really want to know what he’s thinking. The Middleton is strong in that sweet face!
The photo is the perfect balance of togetherness as well as unique, playful expression. Just a delight all around. Kate’s outfit is just right for a fall afternoon at Amner. Wish we could know the jeans! I love all the clothes, the layout of the photo, the colors, and most of all the relaxed happiness of this sweet family.
I think Charlotte resembles Pippa as much as Diana or the Queen. All three of this children are lovely.
Fantastic picture of the Cambridge family! Smiling at how all of the kids look so great for this photo, even at such young ages– so hard to do in one pic with all of the energy and wiggles! Good work, Mr. Porteous! Kate’s clothes– wonderful for the setting and the purpose. I am really a fan of the soft green of the sweater, having loved it the first time we saw it at the nature park. The gingham is a nice touch at the collar. Merry Christmas to the Cambridges!
What fun! And that sweet baby WINS eyebrows!
Lol eyebrows!
Perhaps the children were allowed to choose what to wear for the photo?
What a warm and engaging family portrait. Kudos to the very talented photographer!
Well brought up British boys generally wear short pants until age 8.
This is 2018, not 1930. !!!!
I have a pretty good feeling George will still be wearing shorts with high socks Christmas morning! 😜
Dear Admin, can we do a poll about that??????
Lovely photograph. Louis & Charlotte have a look of Kate’s father in my view.
Merry Christmas all
The Duchess of Cornwall’s dress looks to have a different neckline in the 70th birthday photos.
I agree, Camilla is wearing a different dress in the Christmas card photo than the one she wore in the 70th birthday photos.
Prince Charles is in a different outfit too – at least different shoes & tie – I can’t be certain about the suit. The bench is also placed in a different location, with tall grasses growing behind it. It looks like it could still be from the same day. Makes me wonder how many shots were taken that day, and if anyone else in the family had multiple outfit changes!
I like all three pictures. The Cambridges look relaxed, especially George, who often looks so serious in public (and who can blame him). The Meghan and Harry pic is very glam. And Chaz and Cam are looking at each other with such love. I say well done to all.
Chaz and Cam… 😂
So great, right?
I won’t be able to think of them as anything but Chaz and Cam now.
What a surprise of a Christmas card! I just love looking at all of them in this setting and thusly attired! They all look so .. . . relaxed . . . and happy .. . and beautiful; and, because I don’t have time to think of better word . . . normal!
As I said, they all look beautiful but that Louis! How can an infant have such a strong presence. He is beyond adorable.
I really don’t understand the choice of card made by Harry and Meghan. It looks at first glance like they are watching a raging wildfire. Surely there must have been a better picture of them watching, I presume, the fireworks at their wedding reception.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!
I like that the Cambridge’s photo is informal, showing a lovely family enjoying the autumn sunshine, in the country. But I don’t like William’s plaid shirt with two open buttons. It seems so out of character for him….as though he is trying too hard to be casual. Perhaps just a plain sweater, with a shirt collar underneath, like everyone else is wearing, would have fit in better.
The children are adorable, Charlotte has had to wear a skirt, while the others are in jeans. George appears especially happy. Louis, who favours his mother in looks, is wearing shorts with tights underneath. Perhaps it is a British or a Royal concept, but in North America usually males do not wear tights unless they are dancing in a ballet.
But my small gripes aside, this is a beautiful family, who have their priorities right in raising their precious children.
My heart is joyful looking at this photo! Relaxed, happy and casual. I could not figure out why baby Louis had shorts on! Love George in long pants and Charlotte is the star of the photo!
I have seen male babies from five different European countries, including the UK, wear tights in cold weather in the past 10 years. It really not rare or unusual. Little kids loose socks all the time, tight are practical for such small babies regardless of gender.
Of course you are correct, Poppy, tights are practical. But when little girls wear them they are under a dress or a skirt. For Lois to wear shorts and then tights to keep him warm, well it seems that long pants would do the same job. But this is not criticism, just an observation about cultural differences.
To be sure. The shorts/tights combination looks a bit strange to my eyes too. I don’t think I have ever seen that other than in pre-WWII photographs.
Tights on boys is a very European thing. I am American but living in Europe have dressed my boys in tights in the winter, which is a great way to keep crawling babies warm. My kids even asked for tights when they were older – till about age three or thereabouts.
I agree. Why chest hair, why? 😅
So pretty! Kate and Louis were caught at the perfect moment. However, where is Lupo?! The poor thing! I’m mostly tongue in cheek because I don’t always put my dog in the card either but he’s really been MIA for a bit. Probably just living it up though.
I’m trying to decide what the most logical reason would be for putting Charlotte in repeat clothing like this and can’t think of much. Maybe it’s just her favorite sweater. Wouldn’t be my MO though.
The other two photos are really lovely as well. This family had quite a year and more to come.
I think Kate simply doesn’t want excitement and attention on the children’s clothing, and multiple repeats are the easiest way to avoid that. Their clothes will be analyzed, critiqued, followed, bought, and wowed over for the rest of their lives and this is the only time she can limit that attention. When Charlotte is 14, she’s going to wear what she wants to wear, and every pair of jeans and each new cute top will cause seismic waves of frenzied teen buying around the globe. I think Kate’s trying to keep thought off her children as long as possible … and boring us with repeats is a very effective way of doing that!
I concur, that has long been my theory as well, an effort to temper the frenzy. Repeats, one-offs made just for Charlotte, and pieces purchased from Spanish brands, many of them smaller retailers doing very limited production runs, are all ways I think the Duchess tries to keep things “sane” regarding Charlotte’s wardrobe. 😊
I’m wondering if the on-again, off-again Lupo appearances are a deliberate choice so that the Cambridges don’t build a similar association in the public’s mind as the Queen has with her corgis.
(Not a negative judgment on the Queen & corgis.)
What a lovely Christmas photo of the Cambridges’. If you didn’t know that they were royalty, you would think they’re like any other family, down to earth.
Of all the photos you’ve shown, I didn’t care for the one of the Sussexs’ it looks like a movie background, like in the movie, Meet Jack Black. Oh well, to each their own.
Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!
Thank you for all of your posts.
Beautiful family photo bathed in golden sunlight. Matt Porteous is a master of natural light and he captured a playful scene in an enchanting and magical nook that must be a favorite family spot. It’s so fun to get a glimpse of a new landscape!
It would look contrived if Charlotte and Louis were in jeans. Happily, Kate kept the two youngest in their usual children’s play wear. But what fun to see the “older Cambridges” in jeans with George looking like he just kicked a soccer ball to the photographer!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the Cambridges!
What a wonderful photograph of TRH. I think this is more ‘them’ than the 2017 photograph. They sure do make beautiful babies. Merry Christmas to all.
Love the whole thing! That Prince Louis looks to be full of personality! Thank you, dear admin, and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you!
William needs to close one more button. That, or get a gold chain and grow out his chest hair!
Everyone else looks marvelous!
Really? Methinks that your comment goes beyond sartorial criticism. Moreover. if this kind of comment had been directed at a female, mocking a woman for exposing too much cleavage or for having unbuttoned one too many buttons . . . OMG, the outrage! The author would be called out for sexism or some kind of “you- know-what” shaming!
William looks great!
FWIW, I don’t believe Madeleine’s comment was intended as strong criticism, but more in the vein of something humorous, composed with tongue in cheek. Regarding your other comments (that I have elected to leave unpublished), yes, your comment did give me pause. I wanted to sleep on things to be comfortable your comment was not perceived as an attack on another member of the community.
Admin, Thank you for allowing my point of view to be expressed on this issue. I absolutely did not mean it to be an attack on the commentator and I will apologise to Medeleine directly, as I see that she did indeed take it that way. I didn’t mean to make her out a villian. I only meant to make a point: As women, if we demand respect and equal opportunity we have the obligation to avoid the perpetuation of double standards.
I knew that the comment was probably made in jest, but it nevertheless referenced male physical attributes in a way this community, IMO, would not have found amusing if it had been directed towards a female. I wanted only to point out a potential problem, perhaps get people thinking about the issue.
Donna, I too commented on Friday evening, that I thought the plaid shirt and two open buttons were out of character for William and that he was trying too hard to look casual. Madeline’s remark pointed out the same thing, only in a different way. I saw the humour in her comment and feel Susan/admin is a very good judge of what is appropriate. I do understand the point you are trying to make and commend you for standing up for others, but this time I think you overreacted. In our quest for inclusivity and equality we have somehow become oversensitive.
Bonnie, I was not “standing up” for william. I was raising the issue of a double standard and trying to make the point that as woman we need to avoid falling into that trap ourselves if we want to eliminate it from our culture.
As for overreacting and being oversensitive — I will tell you this: I am a retired trial attorney. I began practicing in 1981. Many times in those early years I was the only woman in a courtroom or conference. Many times male colleagues, even judges, would say things to me about how my clothes fit and how my body looked. When I would complain to my superiors (all males of course,) unfailingly their response would be, “you are overreacting!” Or, “You are too sensitive!” ‘Nuff said!
The second bottom conundrum; it really is a fashion issue. To button or not to button?
-It can depend so much on the brand of the shirt.
-The cut of the shirt
-Or even how many buttons are on the shirt depends on where they are placed.
-That Second button can really pull on your neck too, way more so that even the first button, if it’s sewn in an odd place.
It’s a very dividing topic. There was a Seinfield episode on it. I’m a third button gal myself. That’s were I fall. So looks comfy to me!!
Yes, this was intended as a light-hearted, tongue-in-cheek comment.
Rather than being crass in this forum, I’ll refer to it as “victim-shaming.” It’s very different when a remark is intended to imply that assault is the fault of the woman because she chose to wear revealing clothing.
William is not going to be the victim of sexual assault because of his attire, and my comment wouldn’t imply that it would be his fault if something terrible did happen.
It’s a shame that we have gotten so far that any attempt at humor actually cheapens the work we have done to make things right regarding sexual violence.
I didn’t phrase that right. Sorry, I was a bit flustered.
We have become too sensitive and react toward any attempt at humor in a negative way. When we are too reactive toward any little thing (and this WAS benign, btw), it actually cheapens real issues.
I also think that George was being playful and his hand accidentally moved William’s collar, so that more was showing there than William possibly intended. Maybe they decided to go with the picture anyway because, well, no harm done, and everyone looks terrific!
William’s button issue has come up before, it came up on the last post just prior to this one which covered their visit to Evelina Children’s Hospital and The Passage.
WKW commenters noticed William’s extra button undone on December 11 and started two different threads on that Evelina post. One should deduct that the look is intentional on William’s part and not due to George roughhousing.
Madeleine, I want you to know that I never thought your comment was malevolent or malicious. I am sorry if my response came across as an attack. It was a bit pointed now I have reread it, so I do apologise .
I knew that your comment was probably made in jest. Nonetheless, it was troubling to me because in my mind it seemed to make light of a male in a way that, IMO, this community would never tolerate if something similar had been said about a woman. While I believe it was and is a legitimate issue worthy of discussion, I could definitely have raised it in a less confrontational manner. I hope you will accept my apology for any offense I caused.
You and I will have to agree to disagree. I never made a comment about his body parts. Countless times, we’ve seen comments regarding Kate’s outfits being too short or too tight. My comment was in that same vein. If I had stated that his attire is asking for unwelcome sexual advances, I could see your point.
It’s a shame we can no longer differentiate between these things. Sigh.
I agree with you Kimberly. All I said about William’s two button opened shirt is, that to me, it looked like he was trying too hard to look casual…again no reference to body parts or a sexual agenda. But Donna, has spoken from her own experiences and to her credit, has given an explanation to Admin and to me, and an apology to Madeline. I think we all need to let this go.
I was laughing hard at your comment, imagining how that would look like in a diplomatic reception
I’m with you on the button Thing, I feel he tends to leave open one button too much in casual pictures – seems just not to be him.
But since this is very casual attire I believe it doesn’t matter.
