Happy Birthday Prince Louis and an Anniversary Trip to Scotland for the Prince & Princess

Happy Birthday Prince Louis and an Anniversary Trip to Scotland for the Prince & Princess

Happy seventh birthday, Prince Louis! Kensington Palace released a photo to mark Prince Louis’s seventh birthday this morning. The picture was taken earlier this month at Anmer Hall, the family’s Norfolk home on the Sandringham estate.

Mr. Shinner also shot the black and white family portrait for the Wales’ 2023 holiday card.

Later in the morning, a short video featuring the birthday boy was released.

More from this Daily Express story

The adorable 25-second video shows the young prince attempting to choreograph the shoot, and tells photographer Josh Shinner: “I can jump down from here.” He is then shown walking along a fallen tree trunk and jumping into the air.

Here you see the Prince in the photo his mother took for his sixth birthday, and the image released today.

I imagine almost all of us remember the young man’s arrival seven years ago.

Now, a glance at the engagements in the past year with Prince Louis. We saw the young Prince at Trooping the Colour in June.

You see him laughing in the Glass State Coach, used at Trooping last year because of the heavy rain that day.

And one more photo from last June.

Jumping over a sand dune in a photo taken by the Princess of Wales and released for Prince William’s birthday.

Another photo taken by the Princess of Wales shows the two younger Wales children watching England play Spain in the UEFA Championship in July.We saw the Prince and his siblings in many scenes captured in the September 2024 video announcing the Princess of Wales had completed chemotherapy treatment.

Another screenshot from that video shows the Prince climbing a tree.

Here is an image showing the Prince at the December taping of “Royal Carols: Together at Christmas.”

Westminster Abbey shared a photo from the concert for today’s birthday message.

And another photo from that event.

The Prince joined the rest of the family for the annual Christmas Day walk to and from church at Sandringham.

Here he is with a stuffed animal given to him by a well-wisher.

Another photo from Christmas Day.

And one more of the Prince trying to hold onto the gifts from the crowd.

Today’s birthday wishes from the Welsh Guards.

This montage shows all three Wales children in photos released for their seventh birthdays.

And here you see how much Prince Louis has grown!

In the new photo, the Prince looks like he is wearing a sweater by Denmark’s Seeland brand, the Kids’ Clent’ Pullover ($31 most recently, now sold out) in shaded olive melange. The style is 100% wool and is described this way on the Kent & Country site: “Wool’s temperature-regulating properties and insulating qualities, even when wet, make Clent ideal as a mid-layer for cold-weather hunting or as an everyday jumper.”

Thank you to Found by Bojana for her speedy ID of this piece. The Princess of Wales has worn several Seeland designs, including the Woodcock Advanced Jacket seen below in April 2021

The shirt worn beneath the jumper is a tattersall check similar to this Pepa and Company style worn by Prince George during the 2016 Canada tour, but it is not the same shirt. I will update the post if I learn anything more about the shirt or jeans worn by the Prince.

Also today, word that the Prince and Princess will celebrate their 14th wedding anniversary in Scotland next week.

The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, as the couple is titled in Scotland, will visit the Isle of Mull on Tuesday and Wednesday.

A news release notes, “The Isle of Mull is the fourth largest island in Scotland, with a population of around 3,000 people and home to strong tourism, farming and fishing industries. It’s tiny neighbour, Iona, has a population of around 170 people but receives around 130,000 visitors a year thanks to its ancient history and traditional way of life.”

On arrival, the Duke and Duchess will travel to the town of Tobermory, a harbor town, where they will visit a much-loved community hub in the heart of the town and an artisan market at which they will meet some of the island’s makers and creators—more fromLouise Glen’s story for the Aberdeen Press and Journal

The couple will visit a hall that serves as a community hub and tour the Tobermory producers’ market, meeting some of Mull’s makers and creators and sampling local produce.

During their visit, The Royal Foundation will announce a new partnership to support and develop two community spaces across Mull — part of a project to ensure residents can continue to meet and take part in local activities.

Kensington Palace notes the royals will also go to a local croft to learn about sustainable farming and hospitality on the island. The Scottish Crofting Commission explains, “Crofting is a system of landholding, which is unique to Scotland, and is an integral part of life in the Highlands & Islands. A croft is a relatively small agricultural land holding, which is normally held in tenancy, and which may or may not have buildings or a house associated with it. Crofts range in size from less than 1/2 hectare to more than 50 hectares, but an average croft is nearer 5 hectares.”

On Wednesday, the Prince and Princess will visit an ancient woodland to meet the Mull and Iona Ranger Service, which plays a vital role in conservation, biodiversity protection, and education on the islands. We return to the Press and Journal story.

They will join a school group for outdoor learning and meet Ardura Acorns, an early years playgroup focused on nature trails, den-building and animal tracking.

The forest is under community ownership and managed by Mull and Iona Community Trust. The visit aims to highlight the importance of protecting and promoting the natural environment.

I will see you next week!

I hope Prince Louis had a Happy Birthday! He is a handsome little boy with a charming smile. Something tells me that when the Wales children reach their teens, the world is going to go wild over them, because they are already showing the star power that seems to be their very birthright. I'm sure their parents are very protective of them, and rightly so.

The Wedding of William and Catherine was amazing - and her wedding dress, no less so! Stunning and Elegant And Romantic, all at once!

My word, Louis has changed so much in the 4 months since December! He looks so mature, no longer the impish boy referenced in the Welsh Guards’ message. The Michael Middleton resemblance is as strong as ever though. Odd how genetics work: From the beginning I have always thought Louis was more or less all Middleton; with George and Charlotte I found the resemblance to family sides seemedo change as they grew up.

My word, the change in Louis from December to April (only 4 months!) seems astonishing. Seven is still no great age but he looks so much more mature, no longer the impish figure alluded to so accurately in the Welsh Guards’ message. However, the Michael Middleton resemblance is still very much there.

Prince Louis is looking so grown up. What a difference a year makes! And so handsome, he looks like Michael Middleton. Thanks for covering this!

Gosh, every time I see that wedding dress I gasp. It's the blueprint for my generation, I think, for the dream white wedding dress.

@Spruha, same! This and the gold Bond premiere Jenny Packham gown still make me gasp.
