Happy eighth birthday, Prince Louis! A new photo of the young Prince was released this morning by Kensington Palace to mark the occasion.
The text accompanying the photo read:
The photograph was taken by Matt Porteous during a family holiday to Cornwall earlier this month. Mr. Porteous has taken many personal photos for the family, including their 2022 holiday card photo.
Below is a side-by-side of last year’s birthday photo and the new picture.
Kensington Palace also released a video to mark the occasion.

Here is the message with the video.
Here is a screengrab from the video.
More from The Times of London.
He was shown digging sand with a spade, playing cricket on the beach, diving into the sea in a wetsuit and sprinting away from a picnic blanket towards the water’s edge.
Both the portrait picture of the prince and the video, which uses filters to make the shots look like historic archive footage, were shot by Matt Porteous, who is known for his nature photography and filmed an underwater video of William and Kate scuba diving in Belize in 2022.

Here is how all three Wales children looked on their eighth birthdays.
And a look back at all of the young man’s birthday photos.
In today’s photo, Royal British Fashion suggests the Prince is wearing a past-season Mini Boden sweater. It was described as being “knitted from a snuggly blended yarn that’s rich in lambswool. The soft high collar and half-zip closure work hard to keep warmth in, while ribbing on the cuffs and hem adds extra coziness.”
Now, for our refresher on engagements in the past year with Prince Louis. The Prince joined his siblings and parents at the VE Day 80th anniversary events in May.
Including the moment he helped his father ensure his uniform was up to snuff.

As always, the young man was a delight to watch.

We saw Prince Louis again at Trooping the Colour in June.
He seemed to enjoy himself during the carriage ride.
And also during the fly-past.
A wave from the Prince before the family headed back inside Buckingham Palace.
Also in June, Father’s Day photos of the Wales family taken by Josh Shinner were shared on social media—a closer look at the informal photo.
As part of the commemorations for Prince George’s twelfth birthday in July, Kensington Palace released a video with all three Welsh children. Here are two screen grabs from the video.
We next saw Prince Louis at the December taping of the ‘Together at Christmas’ Carol Service at Westminster Abbey.

A few weeks later, Prince Louis joined his brother, sister, and his parents at Christmas Day church services.

The Prince greeted one of the well-wishers gathered near the church.
We saw the Prince and his siblings again on Easter Sunday.

Happy Birthday, Prince Louis!

Happy Birthday, little prince! And thank you, Susan, for the great photo assortment of the entire Wales Family.
Louis is a handsome boy with a great head of hair. His antics and his charming personality are delightful. In the action photos of him, it seems that he has William and Kate's passion for sports and outdoor activities.
