The Princess of Wales brought back a much-loved dress by Roksanda for Day Two of Royal Ascot.

As many readers know, the day’s events begin with the royal carriage procession. Below, the King and Queen in the first carriage.
Here is today’s list as posted by Ascot Racecourse.
Here you see the King’s cousin, Lady Sarah Chatto (Princess Margaret’s daughter), and her husband, Daniel Chatto.
More from this People story.
Prince William sported a top hat and morning suit for the occasion, matching his wife with a yellow flower pinned on his jacket.
As she got into the carriage, she greeted onlookers who told her she looked “lovely” by saying, “Thank you. Hopefully the sun stays out,”

In this video, you see the Prince reacting to someone shouting “Up the Villa!” a reference to Aston Villa, the football club the Prince has supported since his school days.

One of today’s races was the Prince of Wales’s Stakes. Here you see Prince and Princess walking to the trophy presentation for that race.

Today’s winner was “Ombudsman,” ridden by jockey William Buick.

Now for a quick glance at what some of the royal women wore today, beginning with the Queen. She wore an Anna Valentine dress, the perfect backdrop for the Williamson Pink Diamond brooch made by Cartier for Queen Elizabeth II in 1953, per The Court Jeweler.
The Duchess of Edinburgh was in Suzannah London’s “Victoria” Silk Shirtdress, with a Jane Taylor hat and a Sophie Habsburg clutch.
Lady Gabriella chose a soft blue bespoke coatdress by Claire Mischevani and an Aspinal of London Mini Mayfair handbag.
Carole Middleton repeated the pale pink Catherine Walker ensemble worn at her daughter Pippa’s wedding, accessorizing with an Emmy London handbag and heels.
I do not yet know who made the dress worn by Alizee Middleton. Thank you once again to Royal British Fashion for the ID information.
And now for our look at what Kate wore for the day at Ascot.
It is a custom version of Roksanda’s “Brigitte Dress” in Marigold Yellow, seen below in the off-the-rack style. The dress features a bow-effect bodice, short sleeves, a fitted waist, a full skirt, and a hidden back zipper.
It was first worn in Jamaica during the 2022 Caribbean tour; the Princess repeated it for Wimbledon in 2022.
The Princess debuted a new chapeau, the Epona Hat in Straw ($3700) by Jane Taylor, with thanks to Laura for the speedy ID. The hat has a wide, downturned brim, and the lovely confection is covered in spotted veiling.
And a look at the Princess’s updo.
In the jewelry department, the Princess wore the Diamond Chandelier Earrings that belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth II and the Nigel Milne pearl-and-diamond bracelet.
The Princess brought back her Gianvito Rossi 105 Bisque Suede Pumps ($850) and her Anya Hindmarch Maud Pearls Clutch in Ivory ($830).

At Last!!!
The Princess of Wales is in a Really Bright color!!!
It feels like it’s been a very long time since we’ve seen Catherine in such a neon hue!
I LOVE IT!!!!
After a winter and spring of mostly toned down colors Catherine’s Ascot Pop of Neon Yellow is Beyond Delightful!
What a Bold, Golden, Gloriously Glowy look for Catherine, in her ensemble of bright sunshine!
I was also thrilled with all this yellow in 2022, when Catherine wore this dress for Wimbledon:
Love this outfit! Love LOVE LOVE!!!! The color is a Delight of citrus-y lemon, neon Bright, Bright yellow! It is Gloriously Vivid! How wondrous a color for the Duchess of Cambridge, all that rich, sizzling, eye dazzling yellow, so intense it competes with the sun!
And, I still feel the Same way except, if possible, even More Thrilled!
Because, now there’s also Catherine’s gorgeous hat to adore: a wonderfully frothy, delightfully over-the-top hat!
What a bon bon of a hat, chock full of delightfully fabulous frou frou! A Fun hat that also brings the GLAMOUR! This hat is Stellar!!!
The netting is simply Genius! In a sizzling yellow, the netting is Dazzling against the slightly translucent cream foundation of the hat.
The netting, with its totally fun, yet also elegant, neon yellow diamonds, functions as a halo of misty, sunny yellow! It is Glorious and Pretty in all its boisterous beauty!
Catherine’s bright yellow dress is also Wonderful, and a sartorial work of art, with a flowy skirt, to offer nice contrast with the more structured top, and, best of all, is that gorgeous bow, of origami complexity, at the shoulder!
(I am Pro Bow, anytime Catherine wears them, be they on her hat, dress, blouse, skirt, gloves or shoes)!
Catherine’s shoes are the only part of her look that I’m less enthused over, as, I wish she had worn cream or white shoes, like she did the previous times she wore this beautiful yelllow dress.
The beige shoes really do nothing for such an Enthusiastic yellow, and, moreover, the beige almost seems to compete with the hat and dress (it loses that competition, but Catherine’s outfit doesn’t need dull beige for any part of it, when a color like white, in her shoes as well as jewelry and clutch, would only elevate her stunningly sunny look).
Even so, the color of her pumps is a minor point. We know that Catherine’s love of beige pumps is quite strong, but I think they look best with bright, but also deep colors, such as Royal Blue.
Moving on to Catherine’s jewelry, I think it’s a Great addition to all the bright yellow! I simply do not find it strange, that she wears such beautiful, historic, Royal diamond earrings, as well as her lovely, Royal diamond and pearl bracelet, that Diana once wore. All hee jewelry fits her color combo of sun and pearl – and the earrings, in particular, are very striking, which befits such a bold look!
I also appreciate that Catherine resisted pairing yellow gold jewelry with her yellow dress and hat (nothing wrong with such a combo, but the white diamonds and pearls provide a very pretty contrast to all the bold yellow, while also matching the cream part of her hat and her delightful, pearl-accented clutch).
Prince William also looks very dashing with his sunshine-yellow boutonnière. He and Catherine are wonderful together, as always, but that vibrant yellow boutonnière gives a very compelling and colorfully vivid connection, between the two of them, that I just adore.
(I always think a man who matches his wife, with some elegant, and masculine touch, to his own ensemble, is, with that simple gesture, conveying a beautiful sense of romantic gallantry).
Catherine truly looks like she is having So Much Fun! Hee exuberant, extroverted hat and dress, of bright yellow, brings so much Cheer and Happiness to this year’s Ascot look for The Princess of Wales!
Brava, I say, for all the joie de vivre shown, by The Princess of Wales, in the Boldest of yellow, for Ascot 2026!!! 💛💛💛

@Bonnie A,
Thank you for the kind words, Bonnie A!
Re: the neutral shoes, you bring up an excellent point, that, by the very quality of the color being neutral, it's sort of a way to tone down her look, and maybe even connect with those who are not bold with their color choices. I would add that they always go with whatever she's wearing, more or less, too, and I bet that's one headache (choosing the color of her shoes) that she might not mind not having.
I guess, also, that being matchy matchy with shoes, dress (and hat) is not really the done thing, anymore, perhaps, even though some still like it a lot.
With this look, neon yellow shoes might have evdn been a step too far, lol! 😅
At any rate, the neural toned shoes do look ok to me, but I can't help wishing she'd chosen cream or white shoes.
And, with an outfit that is this extroverted, I think she could have even gone for the Gusto, with bright acid yellow pumps!!!! 🌞🌞🌞
Well, a gal can dream...
And, again, thank you for your insights, Bonnie A!

@Zell, 💛 amazing use of colour from Catherine here. The dress is so lovely, structured up top with a flowy skirt. I've still not recovered from the price of the hat but I'll admit it is a work of art and a beautiful statement. I also love Prince William's yellow butonnière (new word for me, thanks). And I love how you describe it as a "compelling and colourfully vivid connection between them" and as portraying a "romantic sense of gallantry". I agree, absolutely, swoon.
On the matter of shoes. It is interesting Catherine so often reaches for them when another colour choice, certainly available to her, but perhaps not to the everyone, might have matched better. She must use them intentionally to feel as if herself, to sort of naturalise or offset her look somehow. I actually think its very clever and relatable.

And I should add that all the royal women chose well their beautiful outfits for this event. The pinks and blues and yellows are a rainbow of summer colors. I even love the black just to keep things interesting!

WOW!!! A breath of fresh air and pure sweet sunshine!!! What a gorgeous color on her and the hat is to die for. The standard nude suede shoes are personally my favorites. They go with everything and keep the eye on the stunning yellow. This ensemble is youthful and just plain happy. Bravo Princess!

The dress looks lovely, I prefer this style and shape for the Princess. The skirt of the dress has beautiful movement and flare, as she walked, the length, perfect and demure. I prefer the color of the shoes she wore as opposed to the whites of previous. I love the 3-strand pearl bracelet, a beautiful piece. The diamond earrings are gorgeous, but I find them rather fine and fragile looking. I can imagine a beautiful, luscious pair of pearl earrings from the Royal vault. Her hat looked marvelous, though I would have liked another color than yellow, regardless looking lovely. The up style hair, beautifully crafted,, elegant, graceful and stylish. How lovely to see Lady Gabriella. She looked beautiful, this was a coatdress I loved. It had a nice shape and flair of the skirt of her coatdress, very attractive. Her hat suited her beautifully. Loved her small blue bag, the contrasting color shoes, perfect choice. Special mention - Zenouska Mowatt, she looked utterly gorgeous. I loved her outfit, smashing.

@Ava Pittman, Hi Ava, I completely agree, Catherine’s hair looks beautiful. It’s a joy to see an elegant updo enhancing an ensemble rather than competing with it.

Re: Sophie, whether dark blue or black, I was startled to see her in such a dress, and at a summer event. It’s so unlike her and she wears pastel and flower prints so well. I hope the dress wasn’t reflecting a bad day!

@Mia Gottlieb,
She wore another dark navy dress the very next day but I think it is much prettier!
