Our post today is a bit unusual in that it really doesn’t focus on a recent appearance by Kate, but rather on a designer she is very fond of, Katherine Hooker. Because Katherine Hooker has been such a Kate favorite over the years, and because the company’s US trunk shows are almost upon us, we thought it would be fun to share a few looks from this summer’s collections.

The shows start in Jackson Hole (Wyoming) August 31, with stops in places like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, New York and Washington, DC. Below we show a piece that is new to the collection this year, the Tallulah jacket.

A nice quality of the stunning pieces from this designer is their versatility, they look splendid in different textiles and weights; below we see the classic Hacking Jacket in linen on the left and a lovely silk matka on the right.

Kate has been photographed several times in the immensely popular Alexander jacket. To see a complete schedule of the US shows, click here. Best of all, appointments are not required, that makes it easy for anyone who decides to pop in at the last minute.

I am desperate to find out where, and on what date, Kate Middleton wore the grey Katherine Hooker hacking jacket seen on these two urls given below. It was probably just before her wedding sometime. I love her entire look there and would love to know when she wore it.

Having read more deeply on the Katherine Hooker website, it sounds like there may be a chance to order individualized special pieces at these shows. That seems to be a major part of their business, and unusual for pieces that are in this price range. Very intriguing!

Trunk shows are generally a wide selection of a designer's line that is brought into a store (or, I guess, a home in this case), some of which may not remain in the store after the trunk show. There is usually a representative or - best of all - the designer present during the show to offer suggestions. The term "show" is a little misleading because there is rarely a runway style show involved. Rather, it's an opportunity to see the merchandise, chat with an expert on the line and make purchases if you wish. In very high end cases, clients may be able to make special requests (change sleeve length, etc.), though that really is for Oscar de la Renta price ranges.
