Kate Mixes Old and New Pieces at Sandringham Church Service UPDATED

This morning Kate and William accompanied Prince Philip for the walk to church services at Sandringham.

They joined HM and others at the church of St. Mary Magdalene. The Queen was in a vivid pink (almost magenta?) ensemble.

More from an ITV story:

Sandringham has been a private home of four generations of British monarchs since 1862 and the church is home to memorials to many relations of the Royal Family from Queen Victoria onwards.

Kate’s sister Pippa, and brother-in-law James Matthews were also at today’s Epiphany service.

Having Kate’s family attend the January service isn’t new; below, Carole & Michael Middleton, as well as James and Pippa Middleton at last year’s January 10th service.

The Queen after today’s service.

With thanks to Carol for a brilliant tip, it turns out HM is wearing the same ensemble as that seen in March 2012.

That is when the Duchess accompanied HM and the Duke of Edinburgh to Leicester for the launch of the UK portion of the Jubilee Tour. We also had a comment from Brenda, who notes it looks somewhat like the ensemble used for the illustration of HM in a Winnie the Pooh ebook released last year.

Going to a January church service at Sandringham looks like it may become something of a tradition for the Cambridges if judging by the last three years. Today we saw Kate’s Moloh coat again; last January Kate repeated a Sportmax coat (and we didn’t have great photos, unfortunately) and Lacorine hat; in January 2016 Kate wore a Michael Kors suit and ‘Fairy Tale’ hat by Sylvia Fletcher for Lock and Company.

Many readers immediately recognized the Duchess’s coat. It is the Turpin Tweed style by Moloh, first worn Christmas Day 2014.

The fabric is described as “a brown and cream check tweed with flecks of orange.” Here is a closer look.

The piece was featured in the February 2013 Belgravia Residents’ Journal, along with another Moloh style.

Below, a look at the coat as styled today and in 2014.

Kate carried the Chanel handbag first seen in Paris last March.

She wore the Tod’s Fringe Pumps that have become a favorite for her.

And another hat by Lacorine. It appears to be the Sumac style in chocolate brown (£187, roughly $250).

Kate Middleton Lacorine Sumac Chocolate Hat

You may recall that Kate is said to have purchased three of the brand’s hats. Here is more info from Claudia Joseph’s January 2017 story in the Daily Mail:

The Lacorine hat was first discovered by the Middleton sisters five years ago when they were shopping at William Evans & Co, which has a shop in St James’.

Kate bought the Sumac hat in black, chocolate brown and champagne, while Pippa wore a brown one to the Cheltenham races in 2013.

Here you see the Duchess wearing the silver grey color a year ago.

It appears Kate has added fur or faux fur cuffs to her coat. See updated info below on the fur-trimmed gloves Kate was wearing.

UPDATE: We’ve had several comments suggesting perhaps it is Kate’s gloves that have the fur/faux fur trim, as opposed the cuffs of the coat. That is certainly a possibility. I’ve not been able to locate any hi-res photos that better show the detail (it’s one of the challenges for photographers when shooting this at Sandringham, they are a good bit away from their subjects) but will keep looking.

UPDATE 2: Those suggesting the gloves are trimmed and not the coat are spot-on. It turns out Kate was wearing the Cornelia James ‘Clementine’ style ($112) in chocolate brown. The wrist-length gloves are 100% merino wool and trimmed with faux fur. Kate’s are the chocolate brown color; the Clementine is also offered in black.     Kate wore her sapphire and diamond earrings today.

For those fond of the hat style, Diana posted a link on the Facebook page for a free pattern and tutorial from Sew Easy to make your own faux fur chapeau.

It’s likely the family will return to London today or tomorrow. It’s possible Princess Charlotte will start classes tomorrow at Willcocks Nursery School, or on Tuesday when her older brother George returns to his classes.

Does anyone know anything about Pippa's hat? I absolutely adore it!

I love the hat and I'm so happy to see Kate wearing it again! Kate is one of the women who can pull off this dramatic look, and I'm glad she does. She has the height, the face and the hair for it-- and perhaps this look is special to her, since she wore it early on in her relationship with William. It also appears to be a Middleton family classic-- I've seen other pictures of Pippa, Carole and Kate all wearing it, and they all look equally at home in it. I also adore the coat, the pumps (these are a favorite), the bag, and of course the feminine fur-trimmed gloves that complement the hat. Yes, the coat has a bump in the front right now, but that's to be "expected!" (Pun intended.) :)

Well I Like this coat and also the hat, I have just ordered the hat! I hope I can do it justice! Preferred coat as it was styled previously for Church service agree with previous comments not the best maternity coat. The one thing I would say about this ensemble is that the fur trimmed gloves are too much with the detailing on the cuff of the coat, again as above the bow detail Cornelia James gloves were better IMHO. As ever love see the outfits and learn from the critique Kathleen

Well. This is one of my least favourite coats of Kate's, even though I love tweed; I find the length horribly unflattering. This is also one of my least favourite styles of hats, and I haven't changed my opinion since Christmas that it looks silly. The gloves don't help with the overwhelming trim. It's a bit of a step-up from the first wearing of the coat, because I find the Tod's pumps and Chanel bag, as well as the brown winter accessories, match a lot better than the printed scarf and black gloves and tights last time. I hate to start the year off so negatively but this was an absolute miss for me. Looking at the photos from the last few years, I've never liked Kate's outfits for this church service. So, I guess it can only get better from here! I really hope we start seeing some of the old Seraphine pieces again.

Pippa looks nice though, and I like all the tidbits about the Queen. How cute that she was in a Winnie the Pooh eBook!

I do not like the tweed and hat combination. The accessories do not match with that either.

I'm not a fan of this coat even when she isn't expecting. The faux fur hat isn't the best look on her even though I like the look of it. Perhaps she's trying to be seen as cost conscious by making use of clothes that aren't maternity? Not sure. She's a beautiful lady but this isn't a beautiful look.

I think the coat fits her fine still. Yes, you can see that she has a pregnant body, but the buttons don't look like they're straining. Additionally, this is not an official engagement, so I think it's okay to not be tailored within an inch of her life.

I also like shoes with this coat. Personally, I don't like below-knee coats/dresses with tall boots. Short boots would be great too, but I think the shoes look very nice and go well with the warm colours.
