A Christening Date, Poll Results & a Spot of Happy News

Hello, and happy summer (now that it’s officially arrived) to those enjoying the season’s warmer temps! (I know it’s winter, not summer, for many of our friends around the world, but it sure is nice to see a little more sunshine in this corner of the globe.)

We have news about Prince Louis’s christening: it will be Monday, July 9th at the Chapel Royal at St. James’s Palace.

This is where Prince George was christened. The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby (seen below right), will do the christening, as he did with Prince George.

Princess Charlotte was christened at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene on the Sandringham estate; the Archbishop also performed that ceremony.

For George’s christening, the Duchess wore Alexander McQueen and Jane Taylor.

And for Charlotte’s christening, it was also Alexander McQueen and Jane Taylor.

At this point, I guess I would put my money on the Duchess wearing McQueen again, and probably Jane Taylor as well. What do you think?

We also have results from our Trooping the Colour poll. With more than 7000 votes here are your top three choices.

The most popular look by a wide margin is the pink McQueen dress and Jane Taylor hat seen at last year’s event.

Taking second place was the Alexander McQueen coat worn for Charlotte’s christening accessorized with a Philip Treacy hat.

The third most-liked look: this year’s McQueen dress paired with a hat by Juliette Botterill.

Thank you to everyone who voted, this one was really fun.

I don’t know about you, but it feels like a tidbit of happy news would be a wonderful thing. Fitting that description: the news that Zara and Mike Tindall have a new baby girl! Some of you have already heard this, I’m sure, but for those who have not, the baby was born on Monday, weighing in at 9 lbs., 3 ozs.

Below, the couple at Meghan and Harry’s wedding.

More from the Stroud News & Journal:

The new baby, who is 19th in line to the throne and the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh’s seventh great-grandchild, is a younger sister for four-year-old Mia Tindall.

The baby is also a second cousin to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis

A name for the baby hasn’t yet been announced. It’s possible Mike Tindall will use Twitter again to let people know the name, as he did in 2014.

NOTE: Originally the post said the photo of Zara, Mike, Mia and Prince William was from this year. That was incorrect, it is from last year.

Sigh...I miss Kate. I'm glad she's taking a leave to focus on her children, but I'm selfishly looking forward to her return!

I miss her as well! At least we got to see her, what was it 3 times. I’m hoping the months will fly by until she’s off maternity leave.

I am missing Kate as well and looking forward to seeing her at Prince Louis’s christening. On another note— Susan, I am thrilled that you are a tennis player and fan! I hope we see Catherine at Wimbledon this year— it’s not too far away from Louis!

You ladies ought to do a lighthearted spoof on what Kate was wearing in the Jordanian pic that is being posted everywhere - it would be funny if you did it! I find it amusing that everyone is so excited about the picture with Kate in it and, oh, yeah, Wills is here in Jordan - but it's really all about the fact that Kate is his wife and SHE WAS HERE!!

Hi! Thank you for the lovely post! I voted for the Erdem, but I have to admit, the winners are quite charming as well. I was wondering, did we see the Duchess at Ascot this year?

No, not this year. She is on maternity leave; we may not see her until the christening July 9th. :)
