Happy Seventh Birthday, Prince George!

I am back with a quick post celebrating Prince George’s seventh birthday.

Two new photos of the young royal were released today to mark the occasion. Both were taken by the Duchess of Cambridge earlier this month.  More from The Daily Mail

A Kensington Palace spokesman said: ‘The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to share two new photographs of Prince George ahead of his seventh birthday tomorrow.

The pictures were taken by his mother Kate at the family’s Norfolk home, Anmer Hall, where George and his siblings, Princess Charlotte, five, and two-year-old Prince Louis, have spent lockdown.

Kate and Prince William are planning a party for George at home tomorrow.

The Duchess took the official photos for all three of the children’s birthdays this year.

Apparently, Kate is not the only Cambridge taking pictures: Katie Nicholl reports in her Vanity Fair story that “Like his mother, a talented amateur photographer, the prince is equally happy on the other side of the lens and has started learning about photography.”

It has been a busy year for the Prince.  In August, he joined relatives watching his parents compete in the King’s Cup Regatta.

Another view.

Here you see him with his mother, grandmother Carole Middleton, and Princess Charlotte after the race.

George and Charlotte had their first day of the new school term in September.

Both parents accompanied the children as this was Charlotte’s first day at Thomas’s Battersea school in West London.

An official photo of the two was released in honor of the occasion.

In October, the Duke and Duchess took George and Charlotte to a football match.

George was very animated throughout much of the match as he watched his beloved Aston Villa team playing.

As we approached the holidays, we saw a new black and white photo taken by Kate in the autumn that was used for the Cambridge family Christmas card.

We were also treated to pictures of Prince George with his father, grandfather, and great-grandmother.

The images were released to help launch a new initiative from the Royal British Legion called “Together at Christmas.” The pictures showed four generations of the Royal Family preparing special Christmas puddings in the Music Room at Buckingham Palace.

And then, both Princess Charlotte and Prince George joined the traditional walk to church on Christmas Day for the very first time.

That was a nice Christmas surprise.

In March, a video was released showing the children taking part in “Clap For Our Carers.”

Then we saw the entire Cambridge family again in April as they participated in the weekly event showing support for NHS staff and other essential workers.

For the annual Volunteers Week in June, an image was released showing Prince George and Princess Charlotte with their father as they delivered food to shut-ins on the Sandringham Estate. It was taken by Kate in mid-April.

While we did not get to see the family at Trooping the Colour this year, we were treated to lovely photos of the Cambridge children with their father.

Taken by the Duchess, the pictures were released to mark Father’s Day and Prince William’s birthday.

Here is a look at Prince George in his seven official birthday photos.

Below, a better view of the Prince on his sixth birthday and in one of today’s photos.

I have to say, this does not feel like it was seven years ago, yikes!

A very quick note of congratulations to Jennifer from St. Louis, Missouri, the winner of our giveaway for The Heir Affair! Thank you to everyone who commented with thoughts on your favorite look worn by the Duchess. It was just fabulous having everyone’s input, and some of the comments reminded me of styles I had forgotten about that merit revisiting!

Thank you for the photos of PG through the years. I have long thought that he looks like Diana, especially in his eyes, smile, the shape of his face, and his hair. With his cheekbones emerging from his once pudgy cheeks, I see that resemblance very strongly in this year's birthday photos. Handsome and happy boy.

Great photo retrospective! I loved seeing this year’s photo with all the portraits of previous birthdays.

I still absolutely love the way Kate looked holding newborn George. Pretty and summery but also so vulnerable and dazed. I cannot imagine facing the glare of all those flashbulbs so soon after becoming a mother. I remember she was a bit emotional when she spoke to the reporters that day.

I have always thought a first born child’s birthday to be so intertwined with their mother’s altered state into motherhood. Kate in that now iconic blue dress really represents that to me.

Happy Birthday to Prince George!

Something about George's expression and the way is holding his head in the camo shirt picture reminds me very much of his great-great-grandfather, George VI. Or maybe I'm just projecting! :)

I agree, every once in a while I get a very strong look of George the 6th in George.
